Hello, I don't post much, but I would like to share how this particular blog entry affected me. After reading it, I was inspired to create a memory book (like a scrapbook with pages that can be inserted with printed material) for my partner who was to turn 55 a few weeks after the entry was posted. I rounded up the contact info for as many of his friends, family and other people in his life as I could find. I called each one or emailed if I had no phone number, and asked them to consider writing something along the lines that Erin suggested. The response was enormous because he's touched a lot of people's' lives in his 55 years on Earth. Many people said it was a fabulous idea (wish I could take credit, but no

) and they wrote some pretty amazing things. Some people were weirded out, I assume, and didn't respond, although he says these are people who are 2 weeks to 2 months behind on everything. I gave everyone 3 weeks to work on it, but oh well. Anyway, the responses I did get were printed out (if emailed) and then every note including the handwritten ones, were pasted individually on different kinds of handmade paper or card-stock. Then each page was cut to fit the clear plastic sleeves of the memory book, and slipped into each page for protection. Well, my partner was quite overwhelmed and touched, and I notice he flips through it often, especially on the bad days.
Thanks for the idea, Erin!

I hope it encourages others to consider doing their own experiment.
