Default James Randi Million Dollar Challenge?

Erin,
I'm wondering if you are willing to take James Randi's Million Dollar Challenge, to prove to the world that your powers (and by extension, the powers of other psychics) exist?

I enjoy reading your articles, but what you've written about runs right up against my skepticism. Still, you could remove that skepticism, make yourself very wealthy (that latter being something you want, else you wouldn't charge the fees you do, and that's reasonable), and very famous (as the first proven psychic). You could do all this by passing James Randi's challenge.

Maybe you've addressed this already; I've tried looking in the forums and in your articles, and I can't find anything that says you're persuing this or have declined it (and the reasons why). Someone, please give me a link to a forum article if Erin already has.

I ask this not to troll, but because I genuinely want to know, I want to believe what you say is true, I'd love to.. but without some scientific credibility, I can't. (and that is the basis of the scientific method: theories are tested, and if they pass the challenges of others by replicating the method, then they are genuinely accepted by the world as fact)

And people, please, no name calling or ad hominem attacks, even though this is probably a sensitive topic. If you have to resort to that, you've already lost.

So, Erin, will you accept the challenge?

It's been asked, and frankly things like this are pointless as science possesses neither the tools nor the understanding necessary to validate esoteric phenomena. If it did, the world wouldn't embrace it with open arms. The truth doesn't bode well for society's preconceived notions about how the world works.

If it has, I can't find in the forums where Erin addresses this issue (if she has). Please quote a link to a forum post, I don't want to rehash something that's already been addressed.

That's not true. All science is, is a method, based on logic, that figures out things. Our entire modern civilization is based on it, through it's implementation: technology.

The world operates by laws, figured out by science, and described by mathematics. Higher planes, astral projection, all of it.. if it's real, science can describe that too.

Ah, yes. Exactly what I was looking for and couldn't find. Thank you.

Unfortunately, I didn't see what I was hoping to see. I think I'd better leave it at that.

Admins, please feel free to lock the thread.

What did I say that contradicted this...?

Not true. Not under current thought/methodology.

You said "science possesses neither the tools nor the understanding necessary to validate esoteric phenomena". For what you say to be true, it would be like 1 + 1 = 2 in base 10, but in some other plane it does not, because math doesn't work. I don't think there's any basis to say that science can't potentially explain how something like astral projection can work. The only other way out I see is to say it's all "divine will", but that gets into religion, and is a whole other ball of worms.

Explain how science (and therefore logic) doesn't apply to explaining metaphysics. I don't see how, but I'm open to being convinced otherwise.

You've already proven the conversation is pointless.

Hi, someone started a thread with this link a few months ago and I found it helpful. It does tend to lag but before going any further, and to show that you are willing to be open minded, I hope you find the time to watch all of it. There are 13 other parts, please keep that in mind. The topics do change throughout the entire feature and gets into pictures of energy being sent from one person to another person, two buildings away, via the heart chakra. It also gets into magnetic fields surrounding the human body, and even gives you something very simple to help prove this to you. I understand your skepticism and I welcome it, it's very needed even in this lifestyle and I thank you for your respectfulness and kindness.

Thanks! I'll check it out, probably tomorrow, and comment back then.

You can't find out what you don't know by going in with what you know.
