Erinnnnnnnnnn, I really wish you would get a slave to translate video to text! I was excited to read about this topic, but this video stops me. I just don't do videos on the internet, even from lovely and charming ladies such as yourself. Whenever I read news report online that comes with videos, I don't even bother watch the video, but I read the text transcript instead. The only rare time I might bother with the video is if there is a big graphic thing that might seem cool to see like a big tsunami wave carrying a bunch of cars around.

I do read faster than I can listen to a video. Plus I can scan quickly through the text to get a good overall sense, and move around the text a good bit.

I wonder for you, how are your numbers? Are you getting more hits for your posts of video than for your purely text posts? Or are they about the same? I'd imagine having a text attached to the video would mean google would be better able to find and link to your text, so more people could find your video.

I do think it's awesome you're doing videos, and I'm sure a lot of people are getting a lot of benefit from seeing you in person in video. I just wish us video-phobic people were accomodated .

Loved that. Damn, I love connecting with your energy! Looking in your eyes, it's like, wow.

That seems to come through more in video, by the way.

I have the same issue with video. Sometimes though... There's something you can't communicate in any other way.

Honestly I'm doing videos to attract new traffic from youtube visitors. And to give myself a break from having to write articles. I want people to connect with me more by seeing and hearing me. And for those goals, the videos have been working. I get tons of new visitors who have never heard of me before.

But I feel you on the text. I could put out a call for a translation volunteer. and if someone is willing, I'm more than happy to post it, as long as it doesn't include my um's and ahs

Hi, I just read the text. Thank you so much. I won't share right now why I "can't" view the video, but there are reasons!
Plus it's a very good subject. So glad I caught it.

You two are awesome!! Thanks so much. I owe you a nice massage Erin next time I see you.

I read the post and it is awesome! I've emailed the link to a friend who will find it highly pertinent to our discussion from yesterday. So glad I got to read it.

It's also interesting also how the written post comes out really good. If I hadn't known it was made by talking to a video, I'd have thought it had being made by writting first.

I hope you'll continue to have your future videos transcribed to text .

Oh, the synchronicity: After I sent the transcription yesterday, I thought, "I should get a free reading from Erin for this!" Lo and behold, a day later (just a couple minutes ago), I stumble onto this thread.

I prefer text to a video. So, "Thanks" for doing text whenever possible.

Question "Just" here for personal growth

Erin, so glad you made the point about some people being here for personal growth. I work in a very mission-driven field, with lots of "world saver" types. I enjoy the work and enjoy being around those types of people, but I am honestly not one. Frankly, I could do a lot of things and intend to do a lot of things just for the experience.

Any thoughts on how to have a conversation about life purpose when you're in my situation?

MariaG your life purpose then is simply to expereince, learn, gather, grow, and feel. In a way you are more free than the other group because you can "accomplish" your mission doing anything, whereas they wont' be satisfied until they've had that impact they came here to have.

So determine what expereinces you want to have and put yourself in position to have them.

It feels strange to me to think that a person could be conscious of the suffering in the world and not feel a powerful drive to change it. I'm not saying this in an accusing way, by the way... more like a feeling of curiosity. Somehow I can see that just exploring and learning is a valid life purpose and that a conscious person can have it... it's just so different to the way I feel things.

I agree totally. How can it be, in a world filled with problems and suffering, that the life purpose of a consciously aware person is not about helping to fix them? I feel that my purpose at the moment is more about learning than about changing the world, but everyone at my university is so super-aware of the world's problems and working to change them, so it's weird and hard to come to terms with such an idea.

I know I'll find some way to contribute. I think the difficulty is in accepting that your purpose is more learning than changing the world. Especially since the latter attracts more attention.
