meditation spirituality and cleansing. Shaking off the bounds of negativity.
hi, ive had a rocky life up until now and really feel a need to cleanse myself and be at peace again. What is the best way to do this? Is there a meditation I can do? I feel almost numb and dead from the emotional battering I have had and not the person I used to be or could be. Has anyone got any suggestions? All of this has hurt my spirituality.

My suggestion is to be guided by your intuition, and try some energetic and/or emotional cleansing techniques. You feel numb and dead because you are having difficulty with the communication between your spirit, and your everyday consciousness. So perhaps opening up this line of communication is what you want to strive towards.
For me personally, reading the book "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle the best way to remember and feel my spirit, and to remember that my spirit is the real me. This book is very powerful for me, and for a lot of people. You might find the same thing, or you may not, depending on how you resonate. It is a good book for learning to silence that negative little voice in your head, which is responsible for all emotional battering.
You might want to try some emotional cleansing techniques, such as "The Work" by Byron Katie, or EFT, or some sessions with a counsellor. What is appropriate for you?
Energetic cleansing techniques, if you are interested, could include those listed in "Creating Sacred Space with Feng Shui", and "Clear your Clutter with Feng Shui", both by Karen Kingston. Or there are others, if something else appeals to you more. Sometimes even getting some very energetic exercise can work wonders for me.
You could even try a physical cleanse, which can also help for your ordinary consciousness to come in better contact with your spirit. I highly recommend the raw food cleanses at The Garden Diet.
Meditation is a good thing. I have the sense that at this moment in time, you might have trouble stilling your mind long enough to meditate, I could be wrong, but either way it is a temporary condition. I don't think there is necessarily a meditation that will work better than any other. Pick a book, online meditation, or class that appeals, and never surrender your judgment. I used to train with the Clairvision school of meditation Clairvision School – School of Meditation. which I find to be well researched and interesting.
