A couple of years later I wondered how things went with Maryann. I scanned for her everytime I went to Costco, but I didn’t see her. Finally, I did! She was back to her skinny self. Steve urged me to go up to her and find out how things went, but I wasn’t in her line and simply wasn’t brave enough to butt into line and start asking how her labor went. It was enough for me to see that she was okay.
Eerie similarities/synchronicity - about this same time, I was the recipient of a warning of a life-threatening situation from a psychic (now friend) who was at that time just coming to terms/acceptance of her psychic-ness. She had to find the bravery to speak to me and I had to find the faith to believe what she said was true. Her services have since exploded - she gives readings all the time and credits her early experience with me as the beginning of a greater comfort level with her gift. As for me, I have no doubt that by heeding her warning, my life was not only spared but greatly enhanced.

So, as a surrogate Maryann, please let me say:

"Thank you Erin. Thank you for your bravery in sharing your gift. Thank you for listening to that voice and speaking to me. I have a terrific, blessed life now and I will forever be grateful to you. Blessings!"

Cool, that's great to hear.

I was so afraid of being seen as a nut job that it almost stopped me from telling her what I needed to tell her. Sometimes I think the spirits were testing me to see if I would be a good candidate for this gift and to see if I would use it properly.

Hmm... that makes me think. Just recently, I had the opportunity to offer reiki to a family member who was in pain. Reiki is the way I intuitively connect with people for now. BUT, I couldn't get past... everything. Family dynamics where we hardly touch each other, the fear of being seen as really wacky... all ego stuff. I *have* finally sent out e-mails letting people know they can let me know if they want reiki, with the potential for an intuitive reading. (I need the practice!) But I guess I'm not at the point where I can just offer to people "cold". I hope to get past all that - your post will help, I'm sure!

So...it is ethical to tell when you see things like this? When I meet people I'll sometimes have weird flashes of their futures, both good and bad. The only time I have done something is when I saw my boss getting hit by a drunk driver and dying, and I convinced him to go to dinner with a few of my co-workers and me. Later that night on the news, I saw the car that I had seen killing my boss smushed, as the guy had instead hit a semi. The guy was driving an F-250, and my boss drove a Porsche. Never told him what I did.

Not only is it ethical to warn someone if you see something life-threatening, I personally believe I have an obligation. At the time, I was not a professional psychic so it was just me and this girl and probably one of her guides pushing me to give her this warning. But it was a harbinger of things to come.

Now, when I do readings, I relay what their guides are telling me. Good, bad and ugly. With so little time with a client (in the grand scheme of things) I have to give them the most important information first. Even if it isn't easy to hear or swallow.

Now I've had feelings about something and not told the person involved because it wasn't that compelling. But this particular experience with the girl in my dream... why send me a dream like that if it wasn't a dire warning that needed to be told? I saw her the very next day. Methinks someone on the other side knew I was going to be there and was trying desperately to get her this warning. Perhaps it was even her future child sending me the warning. I don't know.

It is funny everytime I read one of Erin's article, I have shivers in my head and down my spine while reading it.

Does anyone have that too? I don't know if it is some spirit angel, my imagination, or just a reaction to some good articles though. The latter makes more sense maybe

more like smushed

It means "squashed".

"Smashed" is usually used for something that is hit hard and violently, and probably splits into pieces.

"Smooshed" or "smushed" means it is slowly compressed rather than violently.

So if you gently put some ice cream at the grocery store down onto your bread, your bread gets smooshed.

If you take a hammer and hit a watermelon, your watermelon is smashed.

From the blog entry:

So I took a deep breath and said as quietly as I could. “I know this is going to sound a little crazy, but are you pregnant by any chance?”

She almost dropped my lettuce.
I had to go back and read it again, too! I remembered *something* about lettuce...

Erin, That is an amazing story. I am glad you said something to her and I am glad that she seemed happy to you when you saw her last. I hope, for both of you, that you see eachother face to face again. Where she will remember you. I am sure she could never forget you.

I think it's really important 'how' you tell someone. Erin was discrete enough to only say what was needed. Had she told everything she'd seen, she would have panicked the lady.
I was doing readings in a spiritual shop a few years back and working the counter part-time with a massage therapist. A well known psychic came in the shop and marched up to the therapist saying very loudly, 'Your son is an arsonist and he's going to jail. You can blame your husband for this. This has happened because of his philandering.' The therapist was really shocked and angry (she was embarassed, there were customers in the shop) and challenged the psychic. The psychic backed out of the shop yelling, 'He will go to jail, you mark my words. I am an internationally acclaimed psychic. I have not been wrong yet.'
The psychic was partially correct.
I'd done a reading for the therapist earlier in the day and picked it up too. The therapists husband, who was the local fire chief, had left her and moved in with her best friend. She'd been extremely hurt because he's was publicy flouting this woman and they'd had public fights over it. The son who was 15, was embarrassed by the way his parents were behaving and had, the night before, set fire to local pub. It was a cry for help.
I'd seen him get periodic detention with Department of Conservation and the whole family in counselling. His PD would lead to a career with DOC.
I'd told the therapist that this was a good thing. No-one was hurt and her and her husband would finally settle their differences with a mediater for the sake of their son who they both loved very much.
The son confessed to his Dad later that day and he called the therapist and said 'We have talk.' It was the first time they'd talked without yelling at each other in six months.
I bumped into them all at a local restaurant recently. The therapist has remarried a lovely airline pilot and the son is working full-time for Doc.
I'm picking the 'internationally acclaimed psychic's' ego distorted the message, and what value did she offer in giving it?
As psychic's, the energies (guides) who work through us, align themselves with our own ethics and values. Just being able to recieve messages is not enough. Just because someone has psychic ability, it doesn't automatically mean they have the wisdom to know how to use it.
Lallymac

I second this whole heartedly. I learned this the hard way. When I was 3 or so, I walked up to my grandmother really upset telling her she had lung cancer and was going to die and I did not want her to die. My mother, of course, shhhhed me. A year later, she had lung cancer and a year after that she was gone. When I was 4, I was in the back seat of the car driving home from LA where my grandmother who was now sick with cancer lived, and I saw a sign for the 5 freeway, and I started crying. And my mother was just like, what is it now? And I told her I did not want my parents getting divorced. They looked at me like I had lost it, but a year later, they were divorced.

I have since learned, just because I know something, doesn’t mean I say anything, doesn’t mean people want to hear it, and doesn’t mean I should be so abrupt. By the time I was 5 or so, I learned that, if I was going to help people, it’s not always best that they knew what I knew, only that I helped, or changed it.

I really amazed by the story. It’s really wonderful.
My belief that there is a supreme power (god or spiritual guides) controlling the universe is getting stronger after reading this incident.

I am glad that you (Erin) were able to tell her about it. One of my toughest choices I had to make about a year and a half ago was to start telling people around me what I intuitively picked up about them if it was important enough. It doesn't happen frequently but from time to time thankfully.

I had an experience where I was at a party with my friend & he was walking off with a girl who was hosting. & I got a sinking feeling that was AWFUL. I just knew something wasn't right there. However, this very friend was leaning towards atheistic tendencies at the time & was not largely aware of my growing intuitive nature. So.. I had the worst time telling him & actually I didn't find out I was right about it until much later through another friend because this particular friend was not willing to admit any intuitive abilities existed so.. you get the picture. & I do agree..being tactful is always a good thing if possible.

& btw, I am glad you tell the person who needs to be told! The truth may hurt at the moment it is told but it is good that it is told. Being uncomfortable for a short while is much better than being in horrible agony because of a situation that did not need to occur.
