| Since my last post I've been trying to have a lucid dream after having given up for a short time. I can't say it was like slipping into a pair of comfortable old shoes because I haven't had anything like a lucid dream until recently. Although I think I would have to call it a mixture between the two because although I thought I was lucid I was accepting the dream world as reality in a sense because I was under the impression for some convuluted reason that lucid dreaming was dangerous to my mind and was trying repeatedly to wake up, having many false awakenings in the process. Also, the bedroom I was in, in these false awakenings, wasn't mine but I believed it was. You may say this was just a dream of being lucid but I believe it was a mixture because I was using the techniques you use while lucid dreaming, such as trying to make the dreamscape more vivid. An annoying thing about this event is how hard it was to wake up when I was panicking, usually I'm trying to stop waking up in a lucid dream! Hopefully this is just a step to having more cognizant lucid dreams soon. |

A lucid dream by definition is when you become consciously aware that you are dreaming while you are dreaming. That’s it, nothing else. Any ‘techniques’ you might be using are secondary. Note that you might be using those same techniques within your dream but trying to do them on the dream reality. I have tried using advanced lucid dreaming techniques while fully awake. False awakenings can be rather annoying especially when there are a string of them. Remaining lucid through false awakenings is even more difficult. Until you deal with your fear, lucid dreaming will remain very difficult. |
