Wow...that's a very interesting story, Erin! Kinda creepy actually cause sometimes I swear I feel things (have felt that way since a kid). I usually have to turn a light on when I get those feelings...and then they go away (and no, I don't think I'm just scared of the dark So...what was the worst that could have happened had you not woken up? or even after you woke up and went astral...had you not gotten back into your body? Also...do astral vampires (and evil beings period...) only come around people that know how to go astral...or do they prey around everyone? What attracts these beings? Do you know of cases were the worst HAS happened???... |

Erin, One disconnect. The orb was there when you woke up. It became a shape when you went astral . Why try to wake up as you will be without a sword and it will be still be or why it went away when you woke up? adestiny |

All good questions... @adestiny: Because I didn't know exactly what he was, I didn't want to be in his realm on his terms. Awake, I am no longer as accessible by him. Think Freddy Krueger. His victims were safe as long as they were awake. But once they went to sleep, he would trap them there until he was done killing them. Similar story here. Which is why when I went back in the second time, I was ready for him with a plan. While awake I am out of phase with it. @Vanilla: I too have found that invoking the name of God or Jesus tends to have a positive effect in dispelling baddies. What would have happened if I was stuck there? He could have attacked me astrally which would have had the physical effect of making me weak, sick, or possibly even dead. They are attracted by energy. Like Theo said, they feed off negative emotions like fear and anger, and also depression, shame and guilt. |

so, let's say an astral vampire was feeding off of two people arguing and they have NO idea it was there. Could and/or would it harm them? Or, would it just stay and feast of the negative energy? If it stays and feasts...does it go away when you stop arguing? Or, does it try to ignite more arguing so it can eat more? And, why would the vampire want to do harm to Erin? To eat her soul? Or, just because it could? Oh, and thanks for the response Erin!!

As far as people who choose not to be aware of things on the astral realm, I've found that they're quite safe. People have a natural shield that tends to protect them against the big baddies that lurk out there. The most that a lower-energy thing can do to these people is change their moods somewhat and make them feel ill. The only real danger comes when people start going astral or doing spiritual thing, and treat it as a game. If it is a game, you can just stop playing, right? If you can just stop, then most people don't see a need to properly clean up after themselves, which weakens your natural shield. If you leave salt water on an iron bar, it's going to get weaker and weaker. Also, when people first start to toy around with spiritual matters, they disregard their natural shield... To them, it is simply blocking the way, so they knock holes in it so that they can get out... Well, if you can get out, then something else can get in... So, if you've never met them, and you aren't doing anything foolish, you don't have to worry about astral vampires. If you would like to learn more about astral travel, find someone who is fairly grounded to teach you. |

As for why one would want to hurt Erin directly... Well, she's a threat. If she can sense it directly, then she can take steps to hurt it... such as by driving a huge astral blade of light through its heart.

It gets hurt... Maybe its consciousness splits into several different parts, which would be 'killing' it... The energy gets dissipated, sort of like a stiff wind hitting a fog bank. The energy is still there, but unable to form back together very easily or quickly. Some people go out to actively fight astral entities so that they can gather the energy in themselves... My advice to them is to be careful when fighting monsters, or you'll become one yourself. |

Yes Adam is right. You can sort of dispel their energy so it takes them a while to coalesce again. And yeah, you don't really want to go out there looking for trouble. I think I might have been on a list somewhere in the astral realms, back when I was 15-19ish. Nowadays I don't go looking for that kind of trouble. |

Heh. Your experience, Erin, was similar to mine in some ways. I remember I could sort of "see" his form & it was very stereotypical (heh)..cloak & all. I didn't fight him though because I don't tend to do that very well.. but yeah your story reminds me a bit of mine. Eep. I am glad I moved from that area where there was such strong astral activity. Sleeping was such a chore there! I used to have a ton of wards up just to get a peaceful night's sleep! & I agree with all.. don't go looking for such things. They are rather scary. I had too many experiences in that place to ever desire doing what I used to even up till a few years ago (I used to go to cemeteries just to be curious..hmm..) I am glad you didn't have more than those 2 experiences. Eep. & I agree with Adam who wrote they seem drawn to negative energy & feed off of it. I can say at the time there was plenty. |

I started thinking of happy things at night to protect myself (Santa Claus on his sleigh, etc.) Later as I grew older I would carry a white light that surrounded me .. say affirmations, ad nausium. I finally learned how to get out of a lucid dream (they were lasting so long and at times were very scary.) My brother and I shared thoughts on how to cope with all these wierd things but for some reason that I don't remember (probably because we weren't that emotionally close to them) we never shared this with our parents as children. We could and did share thoughts during the day (with out speaking) and pretty much thought of all of this as quite normal. Our friends got to expect that strange things might happen around us. Sorry ... back to the point. I eventually learned that nothing out there could destroy me. Things might frighten me but usually that was just my reaction to whatever I encountered not its intentions. I am talking now about Astral Travel, OB movement an Lucid Dreams. I now enjoy jumping off high objects and smashing on the ground, getting chomped up by some strange monster like creature or getting shot by "bad" guy. I particularly like the "dying" process. What a trip. The transistions are a blast. Now I don't even think about protection. It is not needed in my universe. But I realize we all create our own reality. So if you feel the need for protection ... by all means utilize it. Its not better or worse ... just optional. Kind of like suffering. Am I fasting or am I starving? Sorry for all the rambling.. BlessU Sam

There is a theory that these entities aren't human but are created by humans. They become sentient and take on a life of their own. They are "second order beings" Kind of like a "copy of a copy" so not quite as sharp. But they can become pretty powerful and manipulate people. |

I can see why Erin may be reluctant to share this type of information with us, because people may be afraid to explore this side of their spirituality, but at the same time.. I appreciate the info because now.. you know.. maybe I have an idea of what to do if I (spontaneously) run into one of the baddies.. And I'm certainly not as afraid of my night-time weirdnesses as I once was. They're still pretty rare, but now I look forward to them.. *sigh*
