| Well since psychics are socially recognized fully there isn't an established code of conduct per se. However its best that you just use your own common sense and judgement. Do do harm to others. Don't reveal information about one person to another. Don't charge outrageous prices. Don't tell epople thinks they didn't ask to hear unless its really important...stuff like that.

| Interestingly, I just read something in book 3 of "Conversations with God" that relates to this question. The discussion in chapter 6 is about psychics and very closely mirrors many things Erin has mentioned. The question was about how to tell a real psychic from a fake (someone playing on human weaknesses to extract money). The example was that of a person who would go to a psychic and ask them to bring back a long-lost love or read another person's aura (affect the will of another). The response was that a real psychic would indicate to this person that they would never "interfere with, intervene in, or look in on, the path walked by another" and "will not attempt to affect, direct, or impact their choices in any way" and "will not divulge to you information about any individual that is personal or private." There is also a mention of an aspect of the law of cause and effect "all caused effect is immediately experienced by the self", in other words, what goes around comes around. A (true) psychic would know and live this as a sort of "prime directive" and yes, the book points out the Star Trek reference! |
