All my life I've felt that I have a natural ability to connect to people. It's weird to explain because I used to be a REALLY shy kid, and I've had to really try to learn to be social in my life. I was so shy that my family was really worried when I was a kid. That's been a big challenge to me, but I've overcome most of that. I've never been naturally good at connecting by talking to people, but I can tune in with my senses. I want to learn how to sharpen my senses even more, and take them to a whole new level. How can I do that? A few examples of things that have happened: 1.When I was about 11, my Dad was sick. I was laying down in my bedroom and I heard him open his bedroom door. I thought "he's going to fall down". I didn't just think it though, but I KNEW it without a doubt. 1 or 2 seconds later, he fell down. He had just lost his balance and fallen. 2. When I was 15, I had my first girlfriend and lost my virginity to her. She believed in some sort of connection too. One time when we were laying together, she was facing away from me and I was holding her from behind. We were just bonding and enjoying that feeling of oneness. I blinked and she said what was that?! I asked what and she said everything went dark. Nothing had actually gone dark, she just couldnt see for an instant. I blinked again a couple more times and she said there, 2 more times! It was really strange. I still haven't been able to figure out what happened that day. 3. In Karate we have a technique called iremi. It isn't really a physical technique, but mental and spiritual. You sense when your opponent is going to attack and beat him to it. Not by looking for his physical movement, but by feeling his mind change. It's all subconscious, you can't have any conscious thought at all, or think about what you're going to do or anything, you turn all that off and just let it happen. You can't be mad when you do this, you can't think. It feels compassionate. When you have an opponent that can tune in to that connection as well, it feels amazing. Like you're sharing something unique that you're creating with another human being, it feels compassionate, not violent or angry. When you're fighting on that level, even if you lose you walk away feeling satisfied. If you think about wanting to win then it doesn't happen. You have to let go of losing or winning and just focus on the connection. I noticed that I picked this up quicker than my peers when I started training (8 years ago) and my instructor often points out that it is my strong point.
