I had to do a psychometry excercise during my reiki course. I don't really get into it myself, I'm not clairsentient, plus i guess since you explained in your post the object has to be charged, an old watch was not giving me much impression. Nonetheless my favourite psychic reading was with a woman who DID psychometry. She held my wedding ring and i guess this is the only charged object i have (wear it permanently, plus the strong love symbol it is). She was accurate, I loved it.

This lady just learning psychometry , told in a book , she was given a peice of jewlelry , that was worn by a lady that died in a drug overdose , by this guy that had a very warped mind . My point is you need to be a bit careful as to what you might find . desert rat

Some psychics use psychometry as a means of kick-starting a reading or getting information flowing - the object contains information itself, but only so much. Once the connection is established and the psychic is connected to the client's energy, they can get accurate information about other areas too.

One thing I've been doing recently is having a client say their first name out loud 3 times. This is a means of connecting to their energy and getting more information flowing, even though I usually have a picture to tune into beforehand.

Yes john holland asks people to repeat their name several times as he's doing their reading. I also kibbitz a little with people before the reading so I can get a lock on their energy.
