Default The Secret (blog from May 2006)

I hadn't heard about the Secret until I read Erin's post last May
The Secret May 2006 Entry

I must live in a small hole because I didn't realize the book and movie were mainstream topics of discussion. I think it's great! I saw that the Secret was discussed on Oprah, teased about on Saturday Night Live, discussed on Larry King and others. I'm just curious what you all think about this or if you, Erin, have more input on this after nearly a year has gone by since you watched the movie?

The Secret movie is what really nailed down the Law of Attraction for me. After that it became a simple matter to manifest everything I desire. It's seems so obvious now, but I certainly didn't get it until that point and I do think it's hard to understand if you're not primed and ready for it.

i'm glad more people are watching, but I know that will also leave it open to ridicule. You take the good with the bad I guess.

There was an interesting letter to the editor in Time magazine
recently that said:

"Maybe we should airlift a million paperback copies of
The Secret to Darfur so those people can pretend they're
not getting slaughtered."

My only gripe with "the law of attraction" as it is depicted in the documentary "The Secret" is the materialistc way it portrays the law. The majority of people are using it for their own selfish purposes & gains. Like the world really needs more selfish people, who want & want & want more?

The Secret depicts the universe as a genie who will give you everything your thoughts are focused on. I just think people should be useing their thoughts to be of service, to help their health, the earth & humanity out before focusing them on money.

I also don't agree with how one of the Secret teachers talks about how there is an abundance of everything in the world. You can have everything you want, just know that there is an abudance of it. Tell that to the many third world nation kids who are dying of starvation. Mmhmm...

Also The Secret seems to deny the darkside of life which I can't stand. The world isn't a happy go lucky place with angels on every corner. Get real!

Hi RallyMcnally.

I respect your points and views. At the same time, I don't perceive the Secret is limited to encouraging the materialistic side of desire and 'wealth creation'. The concept of harmonic and holistic wealth I got could include financial matters yet, expand to include; opportunities to invite and create deeper spiritual and emotional growth, stronger physical grounding in who we are, sharpened psychological connections to people of all walks of life, social backgrounds, age groups, nationalities and ethnicities. This goes to show people can retain and interpret books very differently. Philanthropists are big believers in 'the Secret' and they also help an enormous numbers of people.

The Time quote is thought-provoking. I would be useful for individuals in the "have" countries who define "best-sellers" to reflect on their choices and lifestyles. Sending books to potentially illiterate people in a language they wouldn't necessarily understand wouldn't change character traits of people in rich countries who's behavior leads to growing divisions among rich and poor countries: greed, lust, envy, sloth, pride, gluttony and extravagance. Of course, this quote can be interpreted in other ways too. Food for thought.

I learned about the Law of Attraction from the Abraham books. What I like best is their emphasis is that a desire is 99% created before we see any evidence of it. It is that 99% that is the most important, as we align with happiness and positive thoughts, and connect more with our inner being. The 1% is just a brief moment in time until we start focusing on another desire.

I'm going to use an example here - waiting for Christmas morning as a kid. You knew it was coming although the days dragged on, you could see your presents and on Christmas Eve you did not sleep. Then Christmas morning you're up shredding your presents, and when you are done there is a small bit of disspointment. While you love your presents, it was the waiting, the hoping, the anticipation that was the most fun.

hi,

After watching the movie " the secret" , i realised that i need to get out of my cave and explore the power this universe has bestow on us.

The truth is, the law of attraction, like any other universal law, works 100% of the time.

It’s just that, when things and situations happened in your life that are not what you want, you complain that the law of attraction is not working.

The bad news is…

Whatever positive or negative results that are showing up in your life, you have attracted them – consciously or unconsciously.

The good news is…

Whatever positive or negative results that are showing up in your life, you have attracted them – consciously or unconsciously.

Ever wonder why some of us seems to be doom for failure even if we work so hard, while others just breeze through life and are so bless? I believe that's the law of attraction at work. Once we learn it, we're made.

Maybe some watched a diferent movie, called The Secret, cause the one I saw was very different.

It was all about letting people know that this Law even exists, and that they play a very intricate part in a whole creation process. It gave so amny examples of different possabilities for people, in various things that could be accomplished, large, and small.
It had a whole chapter about The secret to health, The Secret to The World, and The Secret To You. Complete explanations as to what is going on, why certain things keep happening over, and over, again, and what to do about it.

It covered joy, happiness, and most importantly gratititude, and more, so much more!

It also covered wealth, and disappointment, and perseverence.

I'm sure glad, and grateful that when I ordered my copy, for myself, and all my children, we got the version of the Secret that we did, cause apparently, the version received by others was very different, and very lacking.

I'm so happy, and glad, I got the version, I was looking for, and intending to get, cause my version is not materialistic at all.

I'm so glad I got what I asked for. THANK YOU, UNIVERSE! THANK YOU, STEVE, and ERIN! It's so good to be me!
