Imaginary friend, spirit guide or deceased spirit?

Hello! I've read a lot of material explaining that most imaginary friends are spirit guides, which is why I was inclined to think that about my cousin's(13 yrs) imaginary friend. What made me think otherwise was the fact that my cousin is struggling in his classes(mostly math) because he's distracted by his imaginary friend. I don't think a spirit guide would be distracting him away from his schoolwork, and it's becoming a huge burden on his family because they're all trying to help him finish his homework before midnight. Is it possible that my cousin is friends with a deceased child who hangs around him? Any suggestions on how to help him concentrate better without being so distracted?

His imaginary friend also has a cat, and lives on the second story(even though my cousin's house is only one story).

I would get some info. form your cousin on his friend , name , are they a passed on human , ect. . This could be a real being or just something your cousin made up . If this is a real being tell your cousin to tell the being not to bother him during school . desert rat
