Lightbulb Starting from scratch

Hi everyone, I have a question, and am interested in everyone's potential input on it.

I would like to know how to develop psychic abilities from virtually scratches. I have had a few "weird" experiences in my life, that I believe were real, but they always to seem to come randomly, and for some reason only when I'm feeling my worst (my most vivid experiences were when I was terribly depressed and, well, I'm ok, so Nada right now! ).

I have tried different kinds of meditations with the hope of getting more clarity on this, but so far nothing has worked. I don't mean meditation didn't work at all, just not in that area (it does provide peace and ease in life, and helps with stress).

I guess what I'm asking is not the "general" input that you can read zillions of times online (and I have ), stuff like "we all are born this way", "you need to open your chakras", or "raise your vibration", but more on the step-by-step, little tips. Things like, you are in the right direction when you feel this feeling in that particular part of your body, or this emotion at that time, or this sound, or that dream... you get the idea.

Because it's very puzzling and we can't all claim to have "angels" or "guides visit us daily, as much as we'd like to

Any input is welcome.

Thanks a lot.

I can't offer specific psychic advice (I'm as psychic as a cinder block) but can offer a general suggestion. Years ago Steve Pavlina had his own computer game company and was looking to increase his sales. Most of the people he hung out with had similar incomes ($3,000 / month IIRC) and couldn't really offer any advice. He did have contact with some much more successful people ($50,000 / month or more) but he couldn't really apply their advice to his situation: they were on a totally different level. He found the best advice came from those with slightly higher incomes than him ($5,000 - $10,000). He was able to apply their advice and quickly raised his income to match those who gave advice.

So, seek out people whose psychic skills are a bit more advanced than you, but not too much. Where to find them? There's Do something, Learn something, Share something, Change something - Meetup.com. Also look for holistic and spiritual festivals, and contact New Age bookstores to see if they have any leads. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. They are hard to find though, these people . Most people you meet through life are not interested in these matters.

A specific question about dreams : when I focus a lot on these matters and try to meditate a bit before going to sleep, trying really hard to get a dream, I sometimes get a vague one these days. It happened yesterday night. I don't remamber much of it, except that an non-physical entity and I started... chatting on MSN!

So here's my question : how do you sort actual experiences and make-beliefs? How do I know yesterday night was just not my brain giving itself what I wanted? On occasions I've had a few unmistakably strong, vivid experiences, but most of the times where I get "hints" like short dreams or thoughts quickly entering my mind, seemingly from nowhere/outside, it's really either/or and there's no telling which is real and which is not.

How do you sort it out?

I understand, your average person is probably disinterested (if not a bit weirded out) by your psychic leanings. Hence my suggestion to seek out places where people who are, congregate.

How are you meditating? I've read many of Erin Pavlina's posts. In several she describes "tuning in" to your higher guides is like tuning into a car radio. A person unfamiliar with how a radio works will randomly twirl the tuner knob. Most of the time they'll get pure static, less often they'll hear snatches of a song, and rarely the songs will come in crystal clear. Based on my readings an inexperienced person will usually get pure static (random dreams). Once in a while they'll hit exactly what their guides are trying to tell them, but as you noted it's tough to tell the message from the noise.

So, how do you tune in to your higher guides? Again I'm not psychic, but I've had some fascinating results using this. It doesn't involve dreaming, perhaps it may be a better way of tuning into your higher guides. Consider a thirty day trial, record your results and see what you come up with.

That's good advice, thanks.

Another point is the ability to focus, to make yourself get into these experiences. That one's hard for me too.

no more answers to my question ?

No matter, I've been trying the above-mentioned visulaization exercize, daily for the past 2 weeks, and thought maybe other "beginners" may be interested in my progresses.

While not a "psychic" in the truest sense of the term, I've definitely had a few interesting experiences since starting this routine, and only after 2 weeks. Strange enough occurrences to keep me going and reinforce my beliefs.

For one thing, before I visualize following the link above, I usually imagine opening my energy points, my Chakras, wide open, starting from the base to the top of my head. it helps me "get into shape", like a warm-up. I used to do it naturally, and later realized that this technique has a name and is in fact famous.

And I visulaize going down an elevator then stairs, first 2 floors then 21 steps. For beginners like myself, a piece of advice if you try this one : do not try to always have the same elevator or stairs everytime. A good trick is to grasp onto the very first thing that comes to mind and take it as granted. Sometimes the elevator will lead me down to a cave, sometimes a garden, sometimes to the bottom of the sea.

The most intense experience I had was after I visualized going down the stairs and each stair was higher than the last. I would start jumping down a building, then it was like jumping in the ocean from space, the last step was like crossing the entire universe. It really helps you get into the mood.

Don't ask yourself if it's just your imagination or not. Just go with whatever comes up, even if it seems just like the product of your brain.

After a while, you get to visualize strange things : I saw myself meet with my higher self (never really believed in the concept, but hell, it did come up once) and MERGING with it, and I did physically get an intense body high, like being hooked-up to a steam turbine! So after only a few days, you do get confirmations.

Another strange occurence is the reapparition of lucid dreams. I know many people talk about them, and I've got 2 of these in the last 2 weeks since starting this routine (hadn't had one in years). I'm sure there'll be more of them. A quick question : what is so special about lucid dreams ? They are nice, but what is the connection to spirituality ? Why are they discussed on the same message boards ? And why would they start again now ?

Anyway, this not so short testimony might seem a little "limited" to the really advanced spirits out there, like Erin, but could be a good hint to other people like myself with no idea to start with.

In a few words : it does happen, fairly quickly, and it does feel good. Good enough for me to keep going at least!
