Hello there, I have a silly question. I've been reading Erin for the past few years or so, and through her blog I have become aware of this concept of having "guides." I've been a spiritual being for as long as I can remember (actually, aren't we all?) and I've had spiritual practices that were mostly formed by my own trial and error rather than from others, so sometimes my vocabulary doesn't match up.

Here's what I'm wondering: whenever I try one of Erin's suggestions about finding my "guides," I get a big ol' round of crickets. However, as a kid I started recognizing (and listening to the counsel of) an energy that I didn't differentiate as separate from myself, just different -- I named her/it "The Older Wiser Crystal" -- sometimes it/she would give me directives and encouragement so real I wrote it down word for word, and other times during decision making it/she would seem to give me an overwhelming inner "yes!" or "oh boy, Crystal, better turn a different way now" feeling... which have been confirmed for me so many times that I mostly obey (or ignore and wait for the consequences!)

Is that my "guide"? Did I misname her/it?

It's definitely either your higher self or guides.

Your higher self will feel more like the best version of you, the one that remembers why you're here and she can indeed remind you of how you really wanna be. Your guides will give advice related to practical matters like, "go here, do that, buy this, you need that." your higher self will be more like, "That's not how you normally behave is it? We don't do that sort of thing. You don't want to do that."

The difference can be subtle. t he fact that you heard someone word for word says you're clairaudient. Go back and have a chat.
