You can commune directly with Source. And angels. And wormhole aliens, and deceased relatives, etc. Just wanted to convey the difference between HS and SGs.

But yeah, our higher selves are "close personal friends with God" as they are the direct manifestation of Source energy, so you can commune with Source through HS.

Wow...You really told us the difference very clearly Erin. I liked the way you said "so my guides are kicking back, taking a smoke break". I really liked and couldn’t control my laughter. Normally I think about guides and angles very serious manner. Thinking as if they are very serious and that they might feel bad and angry on me if I do some thing wrong. I always used feel they would always watch me and fell bad about me if I do something wrong think something wrong.So when you said that imagining my guide ‘RAJMI’ smoking on the other side made me feel very light and couldn’t control my laughter. LOL. Guides do have a sense of humor. Well... most guides. They have distinct personalities when I connect with them. I've done readings where other people's guides have been so amusing that I am just laughing along with them as they convey really funny things to me. Guides don't judge. They understand completely the difficulties and challenges we face being in this density.

Hi Erin,

Great article. It really deepened my understanding about the role of my higher self and the role of my guides.

Now I am curious to your take on who is responsible for dreams in which I feel like I am literally making contact with another person. When I had a reading with you, you told me that due to my mental energy, my guides have an easier time accessing me in my dreams. Here is the thing though--I often have dreams in which I am really contacting people--not just that the people I dream about represent something--I can tell the difference. It usually happens when the nature of my relationship with someone is getting closer or more distant and the meeting in the dream is where I have felt our higher selves make some sort of agreemment. There usually is a symbolic dream with meaning followed by a direct conversation with the person. Although I feel almost sure that I am having direct communication with the person, I am not sure it is our higher selves communicating. While some of the direct conversations are very loving--even if the decision is to split, some of them are not. For example, a couple of days ago when I was talking to someone directly, I called them a bad name.

So who do you think is orchestrating these connections? Do my guides have something to do with it? Am I connecting with others at the higher-self level or possibly at a more basic subconcious level? I have been able to get real life confirmation a few times that the other person sensed the connection--even to the point where it was confirmed that we had a shared dream...and have had numerous confirmations that the relationship has gone in the direction agreed upon in the dream.

Can my higher self be male?

This is a serious question....

When I talk to my higher self -- or at least what I think is my higher self -- I see a dude, and he likes to go by the name Daniel. This is different from a spirit guide of mine, who is my great-grandmother. She generally appears like as she looked when she was young (mid-twenties), and not when I met her near the end of her life.

I'm confused about this. I'm wondering because is this simply the form my HS likes to take (like my great-grandmother), is it me from a previous life, is it my animus, or something else entirely. I do get the gut sensation though, that this is somehow me. I've asked him and he just grins at me while he takes his smoke break.

One follow-up question though... let's say my spirit guides have never incarnated... how are they supposed to know about the challenges of my corporial existence? Isn't that a bit like giving business-advice about entrepreneurship while being an artist with rich parents who never had to sell a painting?

@Sivar: It's more like giving business advice from the perspective of values and character than having knowledge in a specific busienss area. They don't have to know the details just the essence.

I already got that...but it was nice to hear it from a pro.

I imagine me pestering my guides when I am moving in wrong direction just for kicks...in the end I know I have move in the right direction...that doesn't mean that I have to be in a hurry to get there...espically if I happen to be having a great time on the ""Wrong" path

NOTE: My guides know ME SO well...when they really want me to get off my keester they show me lots of opportunities to have loads of fun (like laser tag at 4:00 pm on a TUESDAY...sheesh!!)...which in turns, acclerates my inspiration toward what I really want...aka...QUIT MY JOB...to play laser tag if nothing else....

Kewl! Thanks for the invite. I'll see what I can do when the next workshop is available. I had previously decided not to make it for this Saturday.

I've realized, btw, that Daniel is a personification of the masculine energy flowing in my life. I also have a personification of feminine energy and child (read: creative) energy. Apparently, my task in life (or at least one task) is to integrate the three into an integrated, coherent whole. I tend to depend too much on the strength of masculine energy, although I have recently realized the strength of the feminine. Child energy, oddly, is the most intimidating energy to me. It's not because I'm afraid of children doing bad things; it's because people do bad things to children. I am now supposed to realize the strength of innocence. Perhaps during the next workshop, we'll get to discuss that. See you then.
