Was this a Dream; or Spiritual Communication ?

Yesterday I was watching a video on youtube that had a singer on stage that reminded me of my father.

My father died in 1976. So this was sort of a treat. (in a sad kind of way)

HOWEVER; last night when I was laying in bed, As I was deep into the REM state of sleep, I was sort of awakened by a buzzing sensation. I looked to the right of my bed and saw my father standing there. He was just looking at me. I said: " Dad"? "Dad"? I remember reaching for the bedstand lamp and turning the switch but the light would not come on. When I looked back up, he was gone.

I remember at that point saying wait, I'm dreaming. Then I remember thinking, but how could I tell if I was seeing my father's spirit, or dreaming that I was laying in bed seeing my father's spirit?

Then it dawned on me that my bedstand lamp has no switch. It's one of those touch lamps. And it worked fine this morning.

But I can't account for the buzzing or vibrating sensation that I thought woke me up. Once I was aware, it seemed like my father was trying to talk to me through the buzzing sound.

ERIN, is this usual in spiritual communication or was this just a fantasy dream spawned by the video I saw earlier in the day?

The video you saw earlier in the day got you thinking about your dad. That may have been enough to bring you into vibrational sync with him so that you could see him that night. Chances are that he is always there and you finally saw him. And yeah, the buzzing and "waking up" in bed and seeing him there... very common with spirit communication. Cool experience for you!

Is there any way that I can replicate this at will?

In time, maybe. Keep doing what you did. Call his energy to you. Go into it with an open mind. Things will/could happen.

Yep, I kinda thought that sounded like a "smoking gun" . I would have dismissed it and blamed it on the sushi if not for that buzzing, no wait, it was more of a humming sound now that I think of it.

I've been emailing my sister who (God bless her) took care of my father during his last days while I was out at sea. She said she had several paranormal things happening to her. She said she thinks I've always been "sensitive". I guess she said I did some clairvoyant things as a child.

She told me not to be afraid and that I should ask my father's spirit if there is something he wants to tell me. I'm really not afraid, but I don't know if I'm emotionally up to it.

Oh and to mynder, I never said I didn't believe in the paranormal; I'm on record as saying I don't believe in past lives, or reincarnation. I haven't said it doesn't exist, but I'm not sold on it yet. I'm still neutral on the subject.

But I certainly believe in spiritual presence. I've even had a couple of readings from different psychics. (and they validated each other)

As for being "emotionally up to it"...what is there to lose...and what possibly to gain?

Was your relationship that bad when he was alive? Much more reason to clear things up and get them out of the way.

If he is indeed contacting you, then he feels there is something you need to hear/feel/know. It may not be what you want to hear, but it will very likely be something you NEED to hear in order to grow/live happier.

I've come to see the deaths, even of loved ones, a little bit differently than I saw them as a teenager. Now I see them as simply being "out of touch" in a more remote way than if they moved away. I know they're still there, somewhere. If you grieved a lot for your father, you may fear opening up these old wounds, but sometimes you need to in order for it to heal "the proper way".

My father and I had a great relationship. I joined the Navy to support him after he became ill and could no longer work. I was very bothered that I was stuck in the middle of the pacific ocean on a small destroyer when he died.

But it goes deeper than that. You see I lost my mom when I was 11. In both instances I chose denial over greif. It caught up with me 25 years later. I"m just getting better at accepting it finally.

I'll try. It was sort of a cross between a buzzing and a humming sound. The humming sound almost sounded like someone trying to communicate in a foreign language. It was loud enough to wake me, or catch my attention if I was dreaming. It was wierd because now that I concentrate on it, I sort of remember feeling the buzzing sound as well as hearing it.

I went to turn my light on and the whole thing went away. I'm guessing that I was vibrating close enough to pick out my father's manifestation, but not fast enough to exchange communication.

Afterwards I can recall being really tired. I don't know if this was from being awakened after a long day or from semi-channeling a spirit. I understand mediums can only do so many readings because of the intense drain on their system.

Anyway, that's what I meant by hearing a buzz/humm.

Ya ever been around a humming bird? Ya know that sound it makes when it flys away then comes back real close? That was kind of like it. It was fading in and out, getting stronger at times then fading.

I try not to go to sleep with the intention of making it happen because I don't want t force it. That night all I did was relaxed and it happened.

It hasn't happened again since. :-/
