That is also a possibility that crossed my mind.

I had a spiritual reading with a local psychic, whom I had seen in the past and liked, who told me about a specific upcoming (good) event in my life. I then had a reading with Erin by phone about a month later, and was told of the same event, almost word for word. I am going to assume it's a-coming! Haha

Because they don't have any real ability to predict the future. What they can do is read the body language of a person and say what the person is expecting to hear. About 50% of the time it ends up coming true.

It's hard to read body language when you can't see (and perhaps can't even hear) the person you're reading for. If anything body language is a bit of a distraction, especially if the person is nervous or anxious about getting a reading.

This is absolutely true. The spiritual reader who reads for me in person closes her eyes and tunes into the angels she is speaking with. I barely move a muscle and just watch and listen to her. Not to mention, unless Erin is extremely gifted beyond what I believe her to be, there is no way she can see body language through the phone. That two psychics on opposite sides of the country could have told me the same thing, almost word for word, is proof positive to me that they are accurate. However, I always go with my gut feeling, and I do not have a bad feeling about either one of these gifted ladies.

I wonder, too, whether each individual psychic's life experiences might also have an effect. If your life experiences act as a sort of filter as you take in or absorb information, is this sort of true with psychics, too? That what a psychic "sees" in many ways involves their own personal interpretation of the information that's being shown to them.

Since this is so true of channelled information, I was just thinking it might apply to psychic readings, too, and could be another factor in accounting for differences in readings.

Being able to give a good reading requires total surrender of self and ego. You have to allow spirit to work through you.
Readers are juggling dual realities and therefore have more balls in the air than someone working soley in the physical. To 'tune in' to someone elses energy field you have to surrender your own physical attachment. It doesn't happen over night because we all have fears, egos, performance anxieties etc. Trust is another big issue with readers. Trust in the energies working with them.
Again it takes time to build trust, respect for the guidance that's given. To do it well, you need to be able to let go of yourself completely. Some readers are only able to do this intermittently and fill the gaps with their own packaging. The reading then becomes contaminated by the readers filters.
