Thanks for an another awesome article Erin. I hope it helps a lot of people who are nearing the 'pinpricks of light' stage. I have a question though. I remember reading in another of your articles that no death is ever an accident. When your higher self feels like you have accomplished what you were supposed to on Earth (or maybe when there's no hope of that ever happening?) then your time is up. And when your time is up then the universe decides how & when your death will occur and there's nothing anyone can do to prevent it. So is suicide the exception? When a person takes their own life are they really taking themselves out of the 'game of life' before they're really supposed to go? |

Nice article. I remember feeling like your sitter once. At that time I was doing a course I didn't enjoy, I barely had any friends, I felt totally disconnected from everything, and I just didn't see myself being able to have the strength to change my life. The funny thing about wanting to commit suicide though, is that you feel very calm. I remember that I made sure I didn't leave any mess behind (dirty laundry, etc). That was probably the one time I cleaned my room back then. Thankfully, calling her is cheaper than calling a psychic. |

Joe Pike, I personally believe suicide does take you out of the game of life early. But it's a valid choice, we do have free will. I don't think it's the best choice but it is a valid option. Sometimes we have walked down too many dead end paths and can't smell the cheese in our maze anymore. At that point it sure seems like there's nothing left to live for. I understand people who choose to check out early. Sometimes it seems like the only way. But there are usually options the person just isn't seeing. part of what I do is help them see those options, to find a way back to their proper path.

My question is sort of related to the topic of this blog post, but maybe it deserves a new thread - I'm not sure. What I've been wondering about lately is (I'm not even sure how to word this)... well; say for example, in your elderly years, you develop some kind of disease that degrades your mental capacities, like Alzheimer's. So, in such a scenario, you are still alive and conscious - sort of, to some degree- but say you often cannot ever remember who you are, or even those around you, or even what everyday objects are and how to use them; you forget or lose the capacity to speak and communicate; you lose your capacity for logic and reason; you may even become delusional and experience hallucinations. How does all of this affect you on the spiritual level? Are you experiencing this for "a reason"? If we have free will, how does it account for things like this? Would it have been a part of your 'contract' of sorts and you knew that it would happen near the end of your corporeal life? Is it possible to still have life in a body but not a spiritual energy? What are one's chakras like during such a bodily/mental state? My father has said to me if he ever loses his mental capacities like that, he'd want to be 'put out of his misery' so to speak. How would an assisted suicide play out in terms of spiritual repercussions, if any? I know I have a lot of questions here. But any ideas or insight would be welcomed. |

There are two components to death. the physical attrition of the body (injury, disease, mental incapacity, etc.) and the spiritual desire to be done. People wiht Alzheimer's are sort of half in and half out of their bodies. Their minds are already connected to the ether again. The physical component is that their brain turns to mush and so they lose memory or speech or physical control etc. Assisted suicide is an interesting situation. I remember reading an article about people in Oregon, where assisted suicide was legal, that most people who have the option don't end up taking it, but just knowing they have the option makes them all happy. some buy the death drugs but never use them. I think putting someone out of their misery is compassionate and merciful. There's a big difference between ending your life because you're in horrific physical pain (like you were burned nearly to death) and ending your life because your girlfriend dumped you. But no matter what, when you get to the other side you judge yourself. If you get there after your gf dumps you and you realize you had like 80 other options you might realize you pulled the rip cord a bit too soon and now you've got to go back and start that all over again. What a waste of time and energy. Compare that to the 97 year old woman who has lived a full and complete life, learned all her lessons, and is ready to slip back to the ether, and asks for some help severing her body and spirit from each other. |
