Oh Erin! I'm so pleased for you! And I just finished my own first 30-day raw trial a couple days ago. I didn't manage to stay 100% the whole time, but I think I've lasted long enough that it's had an impact on my overall lifestyle, and it will continue to be my goal until I'm 100%. If someone told me a year ago I would be craving green smoothies for breakfast, I'd have suggested that they should kindly lay off the booze. Strange how having a bit of a health scare can be just what one 'needs'. I think it was about four years ago now that I spent a night in emergency hooked up to a heart rate monitor. I was 225 lbs, working too much, and I guess I had an anxiety attack, but it felt much worse. I think that was a 'click' night. I quit my job, moved, and started trying to right a few of the wrongs. Every year I make more progress. I can proudly say now that I've gone from eating two breaded chicken burgers and a bowl of Kraft dinner for supper to raw cold soups and seaweed wraps. And I'm at about 142 now and shooting for 125 (I'm only 5'4, so it's a reasonable number for me). I'm definitely going to be cheering you on! And it's great that you'll have Steve to share recipes and food with! Yay! Best wishes and as the raw divas would say, "parsley kisses"! |

I've been considering going on a 30-day juice feast before going raw. That seems like it would be a pretty intense, yet very structured transition. Going raw is an awfully scary step for me. Going vegan was fairly straight forward, there are so many vegan versions available in stores and restaurants now.. |

A punching bag... yeah, I'll probably just need a shoulder to cry on. In the past I would have thought it was too difficult to do a 30 day raw trial but after living with a raw foodist and seeing the abundance he has to choose from, it's easier to see how it might be possible to enjoy such an experience. I don't know/think I'll be 100% raw after the trial, but I can't say now since I haven't gone through it. If I do go back to cooked, then most likely it would be just some cooked veggies, but not like bread and veggie burgers and such. We'll see though. |

Good luck! FYI, you and Steve both have definitely inspired me to make some great changes in my life. I'm almost done with my 30 day trial of eating a vegetarian diet, and I've already decided to make the change permanent. (I knew after two weeks...) I've never felt better! Maybe someday I"ll end up eating a raw diet too, but I think vegan is my next step - all in due time of course |

Good luck Erin! I've been Raw for a few months now and I feel better than I ever felt in my life. I have an amazing amount of energy, I lost weight without trying, I'm happy, healthy and my friends and family say I glow. I just wish I had started sooner. I was kicking around the idea of going raw for a few months after meeting and becoming friends with a local vegan/raw food chef through my daughter (who is a vegan). I kept getting syncronistic signs, but I never committed. I was listening to a online event at Hay House with Heather Reider-Bliss 2 Bank: How to Make Money Doing What You Love and Steve came on and spoke. I went to his website/blog and what was the post......Raw Food!!! That was it for me, the universe was screaming at me, and this time I listened. I went raw the next day. Another strange thing happened when I told my daughter the story of why I finally when raw and I said it was Steve Pavlina who finally pushed me over the edge. She said is he any relation to Erin Pavlina? I said yes that Steve's wife Erin is a psychic and has a great blog and she said "Is that the same Erin Pavlina that has a book Raising Vegan Children in a Non-Vegan World?" I don't know I said and we did some Googling and Amazon.com searching and looking on your blog to find out that we both heard of you in different ways! My daughter is also starting a raw trial soon! Best of luck Erin. I hope you get the amazing results I have. Much Love, Happiness, Health & Fun, Debbie a.k.a. Artistgirl |

You're right.. it's a social issue mostly. I have a good circle of vegan friends now, but none of them are raw. It would be a solo journey, for sure. I think I might buy your e-book though.. I like your philosophies on cooking (er not cooking?)

I've been waiting for you to follow Steve into the world of raw. The backstory about about health problems was interesting too. Especially this bit, you could be describing me, this is exactly the situation I'm in. "For many years I was very annoyed even owning a body. It’s so high maintenance. You gotta feed it, bathe it, and exercise it or it starts to break down on you. I was much more comfortable ignoring my body and spending all my energy in the ether or upper chakras." I'd so love to trade my flesh and bones for a machine, preferably a terminator type machine, as long as I can keep my consciousness intact. I don't even want to put a skin on it to look like a regular human, I like shiny metal and would want people to see it. If I ever loose a limb and get mechanical replacement, I don't want to cover it up with some crappy rubber, but I'd like it to be shiny. |

Good for you, Erin! Having evolved most of my life in very intellectual circles, it took me a while to understand that I don't have a body, I am my body. Loving myself means loving my body. Taking care of myself means taking care of my body. Good luck on your raw trial and all the other paths you may take to improve your health. |

Good luck Erin! I'm very happy to see you trying raw, I knew you'd end up there I'll be especially interested in knowing what effect fruit has on you, because you mentioned your diabetes and I have blood sugar issues myself, so it's going to be particularly interesting for me to see how someone who also has blood sugar issues does on raw, and how much fruit you'll eat. I also think plenty of raw greens will have the most incredibly beneficial effect on you. So, good luck. You rock! Yay!

Excellent Erin! You and Steve were my motivation to go vegan two years ago, and Steve's trial at the beginning of this year moved me to about 95% raw vegan with occasional 100% days. Now I think I will do a 100% trial soon. I know it is possible and I see that raw food has more value than prosessed food. Providing detailed log on the website is life changing for others because most people do not consider it possible, it never even goes into conscious thoughts. Your trial will give fundations for many that still never considered eating raw. Great job! Peter |

I'm so excited for you, Erin! If you do need a shoulder to cry on, (and I know you have plenty of shoulders in your life!) I am here. One reason I am not changing my diet now, is fear of my feelings. I know I eat crapola in order to numb myself. I'll be ready when I'm ready! I can feel the change happening. Thanks so much for sharing this with us! Love, love, love

Thanks everyone for your stories, encouragement and support. I definitely wasn't ready for something like this earlier this year, but I got so fed up with my lack of progress that I finally decided it was time to do something definitive. I'll be posting about my blood sugar, foods I'm eating, exercise, weight loss, etc. Stay tuned. |

I can't believe how easy it is to be raw here and still mingle with non-raw vegans. There's even a Mexican fast-food-ish restaurant at the Ferry Building in SF that serves an amazing avocado, jicama, grapefruit salad. It's huge, too. Really, this is probably one of the easiest places in the world to go raw--especially if you are as lazy and social a raw foodist as I am. ;-)

Erin, you will absolutely find your spidey sense enhanced due to the diet change. It's great to have a partner at home to play psychic games with and continually test yourselves together, since practice is the key. I've found I am much more in tune clairvoyantly when my tummy is empty and I am well hydrated. I'm enjoying your blog and Steve's as well. The best is yet to be.

After a reading with Erin just a couple of months ago, I did a 30 day raw food trial. She made me realize that in order to take advantage of an opening in my life chart and to continue the spiritual development I crave, I was going to have to pay attention to my body and find my POWER! The raw food trial was a major shift for me as I was going from SAD to raw. I did a lot of detox, lost 15 pounds, and noticed that my vibration level was much higher. Although I don't intend to live 100% raw, my diet has changed dramatically and I feel as if I have really started accelerating down my life path. I wish Erin the best on her raw endeavor!
