Thanks Erin, interesting read. It's funny, I was just watching a TV-show with Lisa Williams the other day, and I got reminded of you and your work. And 5 days later you post this interview with Lisa. Let's hope you too get your own TV-show someday, it would be interesting to watch! |

I'm not sure I want my own psychic reading show. But as I tune in more to my message and refine what it is I'm here to express, perhaps a different kind of show would work too. But thanks for the intention |

| Not feeling an urge to do a radio show. But I get offered one constantly through all kinds of internet places. Basically you're responsible for finding your own sponsors and all that. But mainly I just don't want to be committed to a certain time every week and having to be there or the show doesn't go on.

Actually at BlogTalkRadio you can just schedule your own shows and have (or cancel) one whenever you feel like it, and it gets recorded and saved as an mp3. You'll also get an RSS feed for your show. In that regard it's more like live podcasting, with the added bonus of audience participation (chat, call-ins) while you're doing it. And you don't need any sponsors, though I think there are some plans for revenue sharing with broadcasters. I think it's a great medium for live interaction with readers/listeners.

I honestly can't stand psychics on TV, their all paid well to say & do what they do. To think she is actually pulling real names out of thin air with people she walks up to on the street, is a load of crap. Lifetime is well known for trying to get an emotional reaction out of depressed women which is why most all of their movies are about relationship troubles, fantasy, and rape. What better way to get an emotional reaction out of people then to have a scripted psychic on TV. What's worse is that people actually believe her show is real. I wonder what kind of Karma there is for people who give a false sense of hope to others? |

I've gotten to know Lisa a bit, and she is a genuinely warm, caring, compassionate person. I have a friend who got a reading from her - not by walking up on the street; she was scheduled for her show. She says the reading was spot-on, and while she had told producers a few details about her deceased husband, what Lisa told her she had never shared with anyone before - things that only she and her husband knew. I'm seeing her here tomorrow evening!

Yes I do realize I'm saying this on a medium/psychic's message board. I'm just blunt when I have a feeling or something to say, even if it's rude. You say you've gotten to know Lisa a bit? How so? Through her book, or TV show? Just because she comes off as warm, fun, and compassionate on TV doesn't mean that is how she really is. |

I think there's a fine line between being blunt, and being disrespectful and trolling - both of which are disallowed on these boards. Not saying I think you've crossed that line - but you might think about if your post fits in with the spirit of the boards, which is one of mutual respect.

@daj: Sounds like you've never met Lisa in person... and that you have pretty limited experience with the real deal. Erin and I spent some time with her in person last month. She's very down to earth. One thing that surprised me is just how much of a geek she is -- something she'll readily admit. I totally understand if you think that it's impossible for psychics to pull names out of thin air. It's a tough thing for most people to get a handle on. I've seen this numerous times, and I've gotten to meet some of those people behind the scenes, not to mention attending their workshops. Personally I really like Lisa -- she's very energetic and fun to talk to. |

Sorry if I come off rude in this post. I was just taking about psychics I've seen on TV. I've just read on other forums how scripted it all is, so I figured Lisa is just another John Edwards or Sylvia Browne who have both been proven to be wrong on many occasions. I saw Lisa on TV when Lifetime had her show on all day, and she was really impressive. It says it's not scripted, but you never know these days. I haven't met her in person at all so I don't know anything about her. Overall I don't like the Lifetime TV network which her show is on. I always feel they have some agenda to get emotional reactions out of women by showing men as being these evil characters, at least every time I've flipped to the channel it's always a movie about how some man is cheating, or doing something wrong. lol |

TV networks have other inherited problems that have little to do with psychic readings.

Steve's very compassionate and understanding response pointed out how little of either of those were in mine! My apologies. I was on alert, and very defensive! I saw Lisa last night, and she was amazing! She read for seven people, if I'm remembering right. I enjoyed seeing her this way; on TV, you get just a small picture of the reading she does. These were really detailed and specific, and very, very moving. She stayed afterwards to greet people, sign books, etc. She was still so upbeat and charming, even after a three-hour show, plus travelling, etc. She remembered me from the forums and our e-mail exchanges! She spent a few minutes with everyone who came through the line. What a sweetie. |

The more famous psychics have had to stop doing personal, private readings because they are doing one-to-many work now instead of one-to-one. It's a natural progression when you have a lot to share, high demand, and limited time. I can see a time in my own life when that could easily happen. I wouldn't be too general in your hate of tv psychics. Get to know them first and then make a decision about how you feel. |
