Hi Erin, Glad to see you address this. I feel I get asked my opinion on 2012 often as well. I love your advice to concentrate on today and your comments on JUST HOW many end of world prophecies we have already lived through. I start every day grateful for the day, my family, friends, home and say to myself it will be "the best day ever". If I were to spend every day worrying about what might or might not happen 4 years from now I don't think that would make me very productive! Thanks for writing about this! Many people I have talked to seem to assume that all psychics believe in 2012 and it is nice to see a different outlook on this! I will definitely be recommending your post to the next people that bring up 2012! Gratefully, Jenny |

I wish the world would end. I've had enough of this. I would kill myself but I know that wont make things any better. So instead I'm stuck here for another sixty-or-so years. Things are just so hard and lonely - I just want to go back home where I belong.

David21: When I was growing up I wanted to go "home" too. I longed for it. Until I realized that I wouldn't have chosen to come here unless there was a good reason. Once I found my passion, my reason for being here, my purpose, then all of that longing changed. I realized that while i"m here I have to do the very best I can to help awaken people. Now I want to stay as long as a possibly can. Connect with others and you won't feel as lonely. Find out why you would put yourself here and work on helping others.

To me, 2012 and the ending of the Mayan Calendar symbolizes time, as we know it, ending. Right now the majority believe in linear time, whereas soon we will collectively understand the true timelessness of being. Calendars symbolize measurements of time and the calendar "ends" because it is no longer mapping linear progression. The end of the world, as we currently understand it... |

I do try and connect with others. I've led quite an awkward life and it has made me very different from people my own age. I can never connect to anyone no matter how hard I try. I also look for my purpose in life and sometimes I believe I may have found it. I do put faith in the higher powers. I do believe that I'm here for a reason and that I am making progress with my life mission/purpose, but I always feel alone and it is this that depresses me and makes me long for home where I'll no longer feel that dark coldness of isolation. Trying to connect isn't the same thing as connecting. It sounds like you're trying to connect with people who are incompatible with you. That will probably just frustrate you because incompatibility is one of the blocks to love and connection (see p 36-37).

Really tho, i wonder if it is more of the whole universe has to conquer this. If we look at star trek (yes yes, i know, the real world is not star trek, but stay with me here), in the offical story line, earth did away with poverty, famine, and war long ago. All basic needs were met, they dont even have money (as we would consider it) anymore. People are free to pursue their passions weather it be cooking, teraforming, or exploring space. However, Humanity still learns alot thru its interactions with other species. So basically what i am trying to say is, I dont think worldwide peace etc is what is needed, but more universal before the world can end. I love the quote Quote:

David, I don't know what your life purpose is but perhaps you're not meant to connect with people the way that you believe you should or that you perceive others around you doing. I'll tell you my life has been a case study of incongruity (i.e., my mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual "ages" and paces of development have all been different) which has contirbuted to my feeling that I can't seem to identify and connect with any one group of people. I've got a fairly diverse personal and professional background and I've never felt like I totally fit in with any one group of people or organization. For example, I would enjoy being at a party or some other social function of like-minded people and initially I would be intrigued by these people and their culture and want to be a part of this group but after awhile I would invariably discover something fundamentally different between them and me that prevented me from fully integrating with the group. I know my life purpose now and I've come to accept that my way of relating to others is not "connecting" on the same level with them but to serve them and provide servant leadership. Eventually, when I'm ready and when the world's ready, I may need to form my own group of like-minded people. Perhaps your situation is similar. Keep on living life, experiencing its beauty, and learning from your journey and you'll figure things out. Hope this helps... Steve |

My understanding of the Mayan "end of the world in 2012" (which has mostly come from Celia Fenn and the Starchild website (Starchild Global) is that the world that's ending in 2012 is the Third Dimensional world based on fear, greed, separation, etc. And this world will be superseded by a Fifth Dimensional world based on love, oneness, and truth. Apparently this transition from old to new world is happening gradually, and things like the current economic crisis are signs of it. I can't speak to the veracity of this view, but I do enjoy entertaining it, because it gives me hope and peace and incentive to do my part in the change. I guess it's kind of like believing in Santa Claus, because it makes me feel good and it doesn't hurt. |

i know this topic is really old but i just really started to get into this. one day I herd something about 2012 in a lecture or something and it must have really resonated with me because all of sudden I started hearing about 2012 everywhere. then after it was firmly implanted in my brain I start actively looking for it. i have come to about the same conclusion, that Erin has stated but 2012 still intrigues me. which made me think, maybe the 2012 prophecy is not some doomsday prophecy, but actually a point of evolution. The thing that makes me think that is, that we are in a new conscious age. ken Wilber said something like we are in one of the best times because we have access to all of the world’s major religions, we have excellent sites like this, we have the internet, web videos, forums ect. and using all these things for the purpose of mind elevation, I can see their definitely being a change in consciousness, the size of people realizing the world is not flat. maybe it will become common knowledge of extra dimensions or that we all have the power of Jesus Christ and that realization being the promised second coming. in the nation of Islam they have taught that new information is supposed to be reviled to us around that time that will change the world. maybe they are right i don’t know but i feel like 2012 is defiantly goanna be something big. not in a doomsday cataclysmic sort of way, where you can point to one day to where the world ended but I think it will might be the time frame where conscious is so high and new perspectives on life will be so radical form what is commonly excepted now, that it will be a new world sort of like Columbus "finding" America. Just some thoughs. |

Here's my favorite part! "And when 2012 comes around and nothing bad happens to us? Someone will find the lost Incan calendar that ends in 2064 and we’ll have another 52 years to get it right." hahaha, so true! There's always something else. |

If the world ends at 2012 then it has all been a waste of time... It's like quitting World of Warcraft when you reach max level, it's just stupid, that's where the fun starts.

There is also more than one Mayan Calendar, and according to at least one of them we are already in "the time of no time." A new period begins in 2012, so the significance of that date is actually more focused on returns and beginnings. 12/21/2012 is when the Earth reaches the galactic equator. The last time this happened was approximately when water animals started coming onto land, in other words a big evolutionary time. I've been having to research the Mayan Calendar(s) for my novel series, and it's pretty fascinating stuff. I don't get the sense it's the apocalypse, though! If you look around at how time continues to crunch itself and communication becomes more telepathic and instantaneous (either through computers/texts/twitter/increased "psychic" skill, etc.), it's clear we're going through some sort of shift in consciousness on this planet. Not a bad thing! From my understanding, both via research and intuition, the whole 2012 shift is more about synchronization than ending. In fact, it's kind of the opposite of ending because when you embrace ALL time-space as intricately connected and synchronized, there is no "end." It's not linear. Transitions can be really tough for some people, though. I've been getting a LOT of calls from people all over the world struggling with shifting realities, and almost none of it involves stress from finances. There are just a lot of people out there realizing that their old view of the world no longer fits, but who haven't quite found their new view yet. This particular paradigm shift promises some really nice stuff, so hang in there! |

Why can't you actually answer the question? If someone asks you, who's on track to win the election, is the world on track to end in 4 years, why are your answers so ambiguous? How is this different from the questions people ask you in personal readings? |

"Uh, if you’re waiting for the world to end so you can quit your miserable job, might I suggest you quit now?" Uh, are you going to pay my rent this month so I can do that, Erin? Or let me stay at your house, maybe? Until then, please don't waste our time with such cavalier and un-thought-out statements. |

Hi Byron, While I won't answer for Erin, I will say that she has addressed this issue in numerous other places regarding different intuitive gifts, as well as the factor of free will. When someone or some event presents for a reading, an intuitive might see five or more clear paths, based on choices available right at that moment. Nicolas Cage starred in a cool movie that explores this concept; I believe it's called, "Next." He can see into the future, but usually only for a few minutes. When he gets to see further, he sees trains of possibilities and the movie lets you follow the train forward so that he can make the decision in the now. It's one of the best analytical and visual insights I've seen into how some minds move through the space-time continuum to get "extra" information. When looking at future events that involve the entire world (or galaxy), you have these same dynamics going on among lots of souls--both here and "not here." Yes, this planet has had many opportunities to step up and make changes. Sometimes we have, sometimes not. In personal lives, you have cycles (for some people 5 years, 7 years, 12 years, 28 years ... it depends on your process) that open windows of opportunity to make certain changes. If you miss it one time, it tends to cycle back more intensely. With individuals, you have fewer factors and fewer potential outcomes than say, with the entire country or the entire world or galaxy. Individual sessions or group sessions narrow the visual field and thus make it easier to spot the details, kind of like when you look at a satellite map, you initially can't see your house, even though it's in the picture. You need to zoom in and then lots of details become clear. Each intuitive or psychic works differently, but when looking towards the future, free will remains a big factor, especially the exponential effect of many free wills. Hope this helps ... Laura |

Hi Erin and all-- This is a good stream of discussion--thanks to each! I have a little different slant on the topic. I wrote about it on a post at the Virtual Tea House last October for Blog Action Day. The post is called Through the Looking Glass: Beth Patterson : Blog Action Day: Through the Looking Glass In the post I share a story of asking a question of a marakame (shaman) in the Huichol tradition. The question is about letting go of grief at the shambles humans have done/are doing. But for a split second, I got it. That this is about letting go of the way we think things should be and being present, really, to what is. This does not mean we don't 'do things' in the world, but rather we are aware and seek to be in tune with the bigger cycles of existence. It's a pretty good story and one that echoes in my heart everyday. How it relates to 2012 is something like what Erin says: live here now. But in the living, I had the awareness that it was my judgement of what I perceive to be greed, anhilation of species, etc. as 'bad'...and that the truth is: these things just 'are'. Thanks for the post, Erin and the commments, all-- Beth P. |

I really want to go home where I belong, but I know I came here for a reason. It is hard sometimes, I notice I'm very sensitive to what goes on in the world. It really gets me down, in a way I'm hoping for some good change. I kind of wish now that in a way I didn't move to the United States even though I want to live here but at the same time I don't want to. I don't think the world is going to end, but I just long wish for some connection within in each other. Because I'm not feeling any connection in this world that we live in, specially USA. Everyone is like a freaking zombie. Where I used to live we have 10 times harder and people are still happy. Here it's like another story.
