From early teens to until about five years ago, (I am 31 now), the most wonderful part of my life were those extremely vivid dreams I used to have, in which I would be flying without care. I used to have flying dreams without effort, quite regularly, and I dont know if they were lucid dreams even though I could adjust my altitude by willing myself to fly higher and higher. They irony is that they were the darkest and saddest years of my life, and I used to be blessed night after night with those wonderful dream-flights, in which I used to see vistas that were far too beautiful to actually exist anywhere on earth - great lit-up cities, wonderful flower gardens the size of oceans that spread out beneath me, ancient ruins of a staggerring scale (I am watching it all from very, very high, almost at the height of a plane) and the vividest scenes of all were the thick, lush, intensely green rain-forests. Sometimes they were so real I had to make an effort not to bump into electric lines as I was soaring. I could will myself to soar and do that as naturally as running. The memory of those dreams makes me ache so much I can't say. I can not have them anymore. I no longer fly in my dreams. It is interesting to note that during the final, dwindling phase, I always flew with some kind of a prop- as on a carpet, or on a flying chair, and once even by holding on to a pillow that flew- and then they stopped altogether. Ironically, my life situation has improved drastically since then, and in real life I am a thousand times happier. But i miss those dreams so much I can't say. I have tried everythgin, like putting out an intention, etc, but they seem to have deserted me for good. Any advice as to why they disappeared and how to bring them back, will be much, much appreciated. Last edited by Ishtar; 08-22-2008 at 04:18 PM. |

When you go to bed, do you think about your day or are you doing something more meditative to relax your mind? Have you tried asking your guides for help in getting the dream you want? When my life was in turmoil that's when I had most of my astral experiences. Now that I am grounded in my reality a little better, I don't have as many experiences, but I never lost the lucid dreaming. I can still do that many times per week. what I like to do now, though, is program a dream but not be lucid so I get to feel the excitement, thrill, and danger of believing in the dream that I am not safe. |

If it was a terrible period for you, perhaps the dreams were nothing more complicated than your having a little fun, an escape from the unpleasantness.

Thanks Erin! No, i do not ask for help from my spirit guides but desire the dream intensely. A feverish wish is generally my way of manifesting anything so thats what I do. I dont actually meditate before going to sleep, but I am generally calm and receptive, not at all stressed or in turmoil. I still don't know if they were lucid dreams. I mean, I did not feel any surprise at all while flying or soaring, as if I knew what I was doing- it seemed like a natural ability to have. It felt like a special skill; I was so happy. Some secret glow and pride was always associated with it 'cos nobody I knew were able to fly Is it within the realm of possibility that I'll ever be able to have them again? Fellowtraveller, thanks! But if my subconscious was able to induce something as complicated as that just to get me some relief, I wonder why it isnt doing so now, when I am consciously and actively seeking them, with all the nostalgia for a lost paradise. |

I have been reading about quantum physics and psychic experiments. Many results point to the idea that the less conscious focusing you do, the more likely you'll be successful because the unconscious is what's hooked into the field of information and influence. My application of this idea to manifesting what I want is that the more I consciously concentrate on something, the less likely it is to happen. Food for thought. Your mileage may vary.

Hey, what you just said, (about the intensity of focus/desire and manifestation) applies wonderfully well to another problem (as well as this one) I have been pondering over for days! Wow, Thanks!

I had the flying dream again!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt try anything in particular today to induce it-it just happened. I dreamt I was in a dilapidated building which was falling down all around me, and then I simply flew out of the window. And then when I was flying about here and there, a few people told me with a smirk that "at this height anyone can fly; no big deal". This infuriated me and I soared high, high, higher, higher....... Wow! what a feeling |
