Another question about guides vs. imagination

Hi everyone,

I've been looking through the posts here about distinguishing between your guides and your imagination and have read Erin's blog on the subject. It sounds like people are getting signals or have to meditate before speaking with a guide; however, I don't. Contacting them, for me, is just my thinking about showing up where they are. So are they really guides, or imagination. My apologies for the long post.

My first experience a few years ago was unexpected, I just got this picture of a really peaceful property in my mind when I was stressed. But my way of returning to it felt like my imagination, all in my mind. (I didn't feel transported anywhere.) After a while I noticed a guy there (no name) and I've been able to return whenever I wanted. In the past week when I've "gone" there, that property has expanded and there are two more people in two more rooms. They're all cool. I like them, but sometimes it feels like I'm creating the rooms in my head. However, the detail I see and the people tend to appear much faster than a truly imaginary thought/conversation/etc. I don't know if that makes sense.

This all sounds okay here, but really, I'm not getting shivers or anything like what you've described. Any conversation I have with them feels the same as an imagined conversation with a friend or co-worker, just as I said, faster to appear in my mind. Am I misunderstanding the other posts? Am I not open to hearing messages they have, or are they the type who are just there when I need to chat? Is it possible they're not guides (to which I just pictured them chuckling that I already know the answer to that one, but if they try to stop me from asking it I'll just become paranoid-- but see, it feels like I've pulled that scene out of my own head)? Whatever they are, they're friendly, albeit a little annoyed I'm avoiding work right now.

Meditation is not required to hear and communicate with guides, however many people need meditation for their intial contacts. meditation allows people to get out of their ego and be able to hear the guides.

My guides talk to me without meditation first a lot, but my connection with them is clearer and stronger if I meditate first.

I think it's kinda like the Mr. Spock, "Live Long and Prosper" hand sign; some people can do it without thinking about it, and others really struggle.

Or like wiggling your ears; once you figure out which muscles to flex, it's easy. But actually figuring that out, isolating those muscles, can be a long and gruelling process.

I want to see what meditation can do. From Erin's and other posts, it sounds like that's a better way to really talk with them. As quick as it seems for me to contact them, there's still that little voice asking, "Was that a real conversation or did I make it up?" I want to get past that self-doubt.

Just trust. Trust.

I made the decision quite a while ago to follow my gut and heart - hence my guides, though I wasn't aware of that at the time. Fear would come up: what if I'm wrong? What if I cause harm? I figured any harm or being wrong would become evident, and I could make different choices with new information.

It can feel a bit like jumping off a cliff: oh, my gosh - what if I'm insane? And following my gut is leading me further down the crazy path? Again - I believe my life will be evidence, and I'll get plenty of warning before they come to lock me up.

So far, my life has moved toward freedom, love, and connection.

I'll just say: Don't be afraid of being wrong! It's OK to make mistakes. You'll learn something new in the process, bringing you closer to your freedom and open-hearted life.

I talk to my guides a lot when I work in the garden. I also find it easy when walking, doing dishes, sweeping the floor, etc.

I wish Erin might have given a possible explanation for your experiences Jesann, because I experience a very similar thing, but not with guides. It's a place pure and full of light. At first I concentrated on a picture of it every morning, I meditated on it essentially, envisioned myself in the place and among the beings there and after a certain amount of times, the place and the beings in it took on a life of their own and my visit to the place would be different every time. I could also find myself there or go there just upon closing my eyes--I was there, no matter where I was in the outside world. Even in the midst of chaos outside, I could close my eyes and I was there.

I have concluded for myself that I am mixing my imagination with real things. I also started out in one area of the place and afterwards have gone wondering farther around in it. It seems as if it begins with something I imagine and then those things, the place and beings I imagine take part in it as if they were real and they say things I don't imagine in my mind first.

And Jesann, I don't concern myself a whole lot with whether it's my imagination or real, either, because it has and is saving my heart and my mind, even my life, more literally than I want to say to anyone. I love that place and I love the beings in it. And I love that I found it and them all on my own!
