Do Guides scare you into listening to them?

Ok, I like this forum because you guys don't look at me all weird when I tell my stories the way my friends do.

This is what happened to me today.

I have been procrastinating on starting my research paper, I love my program and the research but I also love the crunch of a 24 hour deadline which gets me invigorated.

This afternoon I decided to take yet another nap before starting my paper. As I slept I had a weird dream that I can surely laugh off at this point. Towards the end of my dream I saw myself laying in bed like I am now. I was fully covered in the blanket, all warm and cozy.

Then I felt a nudge, a kind of a push on my leg. Usually this happens when I am awake and I attribute it to my guides/Angels trying to get my attention. Sometimes it feels like goose bumps all over and I start to shiver. After that nudge/goosebumps/shivering I'll usually hear words in my mind and that is my indication that I need to act or in most cases, WRITE. Yep, I'm a writer and that is when I get my inspiration. The words flow into my mind and won't stop flowing. I can't get rest or do anything else unless I write them down.

So in my dream I get this nudge on my leg and I smile and say, "Hey guides, I hear you. I know I need to get up but this feels so good right now."

Then I feel another nudge on my other leg. I laugh. Then I feel my entire body make a ripple like a wave. I laugh again. "This is fun."

Then I feel another ripple and I figure it's kind of a game so I laugh again, knowing it's my guides trying to wake me. (I hope).

Then all of a sudden I'm levitating above my bed and I'm shocked. I haven't levitated since I was a little kid so I'm amazed and excited by the experience.

But then...then...I see a figure that looks like a woman my age, she flips me upside down and suspends me in mid air. I get scared. When I try to look up into her face, I see pale skin and she has her hand over her mouth which from my vantage point, takes away the opportunity to see her entire face, but her hand looks like a dead person's hand and her eyes are staring at me and they don't look friendly.

So I did what I do whenever I am scared, I said, "Jesus!" This usually wakes me up from a lucid dream that I'm not enjoying. But it didn't work this time.

So I tried again, "in the MIGHTY name of Jesus!"

I woke up this time. I sat right up and turned on my computer.

Question is: Are guides supposed to scare you into doing what you are supposed to do? Was I wrong all this time thinking that those "nudges" or inspiration was coming from my guides/Angels/Source?

This interaction made me doubt a little.

Your usual nudges could be your guides. In this case you may have slipped into a receptive state or frequency that invited something else to partake.

Guides don't intentionally try to instill fear in you. However they may say or do something that you interpret fearfully if you understand what I mean. Once I had a spirit standing over my bed in the middle of the night even though I expressly told my guides not to let that happen. But she waited very patiently for me to wake up and wasn't trying to scare me, but I was still startled.

My Guides have used a number of methods to get my attention. I've never had anything like that, but there have been a number of what I call, "spiritual slaps upside the head..."

In a lot of ways, it was like when one of my daughters is doing something they're not supposed to and I'm trying to get them to listen to me and they just are so fixated on their world that I have reach out and give 'em a little slap on top of their head to get them to focus on me and what I need them to hear.

My Guides do that to me too sometimes when I'm being particularly dense or stubborn.

I don't know that it was your Guides that scared you - Erin may be right - but I do know that my Guides wouldn't necessarily be beyond such a tactic if it would make me listen.

Hey mato...not meaning to go off topic or distract from topic ect.

I'm just wondering what are some of the signs you recieve on a day to day basis that let you know your guides are wanting to talk to you? Is it a definitive message or is there definitely some trusting and possibly guessing on what the true message could be?

When my Guides want me to know something they are very clear about it. They will come to me when I'm in a receptive state - ie. Journeying, praying, meditating, Dreaming, etc. - and will tell me either in clear, plain English (occasionally in French) or in visions with incontrovertible meanings what it is they want me to know.

Look at it this way: If you wanted to tell someone something that you felt it was vital for them to know, you wouldn't hide it in some obscure riddle that they would likely misinterpret. If you were standing on the bow of the Titanic at about 22:00 on April 14, 1912, you wouldn't sidle up to the Bridge, wait for the Captain to notice you and then ask him if he liked the color blue. 'Cause, you know... Icebergs are blue and if he liked the color blue then it would make sense that he would be steering his boat directly at one in order to get a closer look....

Our Guides - at least MY Guides - aren't any different.

Understand though, my Guides don't really care about inconsequential stuff. Things like what I do for living, whether or not I pay my bills (except to remind me to be in integrity) what I have for dinner, etc. are really insignificant to them and they will normally just give me a "Eh...whatever" sort of response if I ask about things that don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Sort of like if you were screaming your head off that there was a huge Iceberg that you were about to hit and someone came up to you and wanted to chat with you about what color shawl they should be wearing on this cold, clear, North Atlantic evening.

great i'm glad someone asked this question.

i wasn't quite sure either. sometimes i see a white ball floating and i know my guide is there. i haven't made pure contact with them yet because i'm still getting over my fear but anyway -- i saw it one night and was caught off guard and told them 'not now, i really need to sleep tonight'. i'm sure they know i had to work the next day (don't they? its a week day) but when i woke up in the morning someone had unplugged my alarm clock (it was on because i set the time the night before) i asked everyone in my house and no one had been in my room that morning so i'm not quite sure myself if they did it out of spite that i keep pushing them away since i was little or that they misunderstood me.

but yeah like mato said sometimes its necessary when you're dense (like i can be) -- i was walking down the street recently thinking about things in my life and one big life lesson i've been learning lately, when i was thinking about it but not realizing the lesson yet, at the exact moment i thought the phrase something pulled my hair not on the outside of the exposed hair strands but the inside of my hair (close to my scalp). i know what its like for hair to be pulled from your pony tail but this was like.. a small good sized chunk that was given a hefty tug that could only be given by someone, not the gravity or pulling of the pony tail. (i had also welcomed the spirit guides to give me signs when necessary) (oh there were no tree/bush branches around either)

neither of these sound as extreme as your dream.. so i can side with erin on that maybe something else got involved.. perhaps a spirit that feels it lacks communication (hand over mouth?) or it could be a reflection of some sort of your own psyche.
