I would ask for details about what types of surprises she does or does not like. Find one in the realm of "does like". e.g. - house full of people she doesn't know well, drunkenly singing "happy birthday" as she comes home = bad surprise piece of unexpected jewelry or meaningful crystal, etc. hidden somewhere she'll find it = good surprise She may have preferences vastly different from those. But no surprises, ever? I'd be... surprised. |

I'd be very happy to come home at my birthday, and to discover the house full of nice young girls I doesn't know well, drunkenly singing "happy birthday". Especially, if it would be possible "to have some fun" with them As for another idea - it's also great (seriously). Why not to organize a "hide and seek" game for her? Steve, you can hide some nice "clues" around the house, pointing to each other. (Quick lame idea - you can just attach notes to clues, which can be crystals or jewelery, or flowers, like roses. Better idea - a clue must speak for itself by its appearance). And the last, "Grand Prize" is a huge piece of jewelery, with the note or nice card "Happy Birthday, Erin!" A third idea, mine. Remember you played "a servant for a day" (as I recall it) with her? Organize that asking another person to do it, maybe a great psychic, or even celebrity like Brad Pitt? Imagine Brad baking a cake for Erin and giving her foot massage OMG, my wife's birthday is also coming up in a couple of weeks! What's Erin's sign - a Cancer or a Lion?

I used to hate surprises becuase I had panic disorder. One time my friends thought it would be a lovely idea to kidnap me in the morning, blindfold me and put me in a car, drive me around in my pajamas and drag me inside a restaurant (still blindfolded!) to eat and be laughed at. I was car sick from driving around blindfolded, couldn't eat a bite and got really sick. Then they took me to a store in Hollywood and couldn't find their way back to the valley where we lived (which triggered a major panic attack for me). It was a bad idea. After that year Steve decided to surprise me with a dinner location that was up in the hills of Topanga and there was a car sickness issue there as well. So it's understandable that Steve is leary of surprising me. However, now that I'm past the panic disorder, I wouldn't mind a surprise. I think I can handle it now. Dinner and a show here in Vegas would be fun. |

A happy birthday wish for you, Erin. I hope it's a wonderful day. I feel kind of the same as you. I don't really enjoy being surprised too much. I think dinner and a show sounds lovely. For my birthday we'll be going to the beach...aside from food and entertainment that's always my next birthday wish |

ahahaha cute post. but if she could tell what you were surprising her with.. isn't that like.. the same as easily being able to win the lottery? i thought it didn't work that way. and if you wanted it to be a surprise couldn't you talk to your guides to work something out so that her guides block her from finding out? =p OR you could do something so that.. its so spontaneous she just can't tell what it is because you wait till that day to figure out what you want to do? or just fill your head with the different potential possibilities so that she just doesn't know which one is correct =p |

Happy almost birthday Erin! as to surprise ideas.. hire a vegan chef to make breakfast and dinner and serve it in bed... (i would say under the stars too, BUT in vegas in almost auguest, even under the stars is hot) Get the kids and their dad (Steve that is you) and make a DVD about their favorite things they did with mom this year and maybe even some of the stuff they hope to get to do. If she likes this kinda thing.. send her and her best friend off for spa day while you and the kids do something special for her at home, make her something, clean the bathroom floor, make a treasure hunt, make cards, decorate each room in a theme for each decade of her life, or go a little simpler and have some friends over, good food, laughs, and some R and R.. dress up like a klingon and take her see a star trek marathon .. finish the night with Bat’leth sparing match! Somehow i am sure Steve will find a way to make it special day for you Erin! Adrienne |

My vote's for a day trip out to San Fran, stay a day/night (or two) at Hotel California and dine at the Millennium Restaurant.... Millennium Restaurant |

Mmmm Millenium. We went there one night for dinner and the food was amazing. Sparse, but amazing. IN hindsight I think we needed an appetizer too. The chocolate almond midnight dessert knocked my socks off.

Or some foot massage coupons. Or better yet, some professional foot massages (or general body massages with optional access to them). Think of it like buying natural, healthy does of stress relief, or from a positive perspective, doses of euphoria. "What did you get your wife for her Birthday?" "Oh, just a 500ml bottle of Euphoria. It came with a free applicator."
