Erin; thank you for the interesting post. I have a number of questions about what you wrote. Are the chakras all in a line through the body? Where is the heart chakra? I don't really understand, as the heart is actually to the left of the solar plexus. And you say there are other chakras. Where are these? And how many of them are there? Also, why rotate them clockwise and not anti-clockwise? |

Newmark, did you read the original post on chakras? Lots more info in that article. The chakras are all in a line in your body. These are the 7 major chakras I'm talking about. Apparently there are dozens more but I am no master in that area. You can rotate them either direction really, just be consistent. You're trying to infuse them with power and you're using energetic centrifugal force to spin out the gunk and negative energy, so spinning is a good way to do that. If you wanted, you could really "blast" them clean with one big shot. But I really prefer spinning as it gets them moving. Yeah, when I'm doing a reading and tuning in to the sitter I am shown their chakras and what's going on with them. I can often tell, using this method, what areas my sitter is having problems with: intuition, connection to source, inability to communicate, etc. And when I see tiny pinpricks of light where the chakras are supposed to be, it usually indicates a ssuicidal person or soeone with really low or depressed energy. Basically I know they are in immediate crisis. |

Hello all... Been a lurker here fora while. Think this is my first post. so... Hi! Good blog! I'm not sure I buy into it all... but if nothing else this sounds like a great way to stay focused in a meditation. I need to get back to meditation as I've kind of let it slide so I'll play with this. For the sake of fairness - if we allow that chakras are real... I realize this visualization is just a method that enabled us to effect a non physical "thing". But that being the case I would think that the "spot" on your body that you envision the light is pretty much irrelevant beyond it giving you a more tangible target for your mind to do it's work. either way... interesting. |

Erin, You've said to spin your chakras clockwise, but I think I get confused because clockwise is a relative direction - is it clockwise if you're looking from "inside" your body looking out the front, or would it be clockwise if you're looking from the "outside" of your body and looking AT your front? Conversely, what would happen if they spun counter-clockwise? I also have more questions: "Keep them inside your body, don’t let the light shine out of your body because your energy will touch the people with whom you come into contact. Now, if contact is your goal or if you’re doing psychic reading work, increase the power and size of your chakras so that they are 12 inches in diameter and spinning outside your body." Right now I am doing clown work, which is actually not what most people think of when they hear the term clown. The kind of work I'm doing is rooted in native American clown which is linked to Shamanism. Anyway, this type of clown is all about connecting with yourself, your 'guides', your audience, etc. So I would interpret this as wanting to contact with others. Does it make sense to you, then, when I'm preparing to clown, to imagine my chakras spinning and shining outside of my body vs. inside, since my goal is to genuinely connect/make contact with others around me and be affected by them? |

Rachelle, Yes, clown work would qualify as energy work. As for clockwise, you're looking down at your body from above, and there is a pole running from your head to feet. Go clockwise around the pole. I wish I could create a nifty graphic for this. Any graphic artist out there wanna make me one for future use? this question comes up a lot and a picture is worth a thousand words. |

I've always questioned about the color of the chakras (if they even exist). I know most healers say that chakras go from Red up to Violet/White at the highest level, but isn't the chakra system that most of them have learned based on the "optical illusion" that is the Rainbow? I've heard others who debunk the new age & old school teachings say that a balanced chakra is always white (has all 7 colors in it), or opal color. I'm not sure yet which is true as I haven't had the privledge of seeing them, or felt any different after working on them numberous times over the years... |

I don't know much about the science or history behind chakras and colors. I know that in the beginning I couldn't find my chakras, didn't believe they existed, and gave up on trying to find or know them. But when I started doing the psychic work I do today I finally found them. I can definitely feel their energy and I use the colors when I work. For example sometimes I'll see some green in a person's throat chakra (which should be blue) and I know it means they are expressing something they hold deep in their heart, something related to connection and oneness. Maybe it's a metaphor and that's just how my guides show it to me, or maybe there really are colors. I don't know. But it works and what I see ihas always been right. |

In my opinion, how you see the colours will depend on what those colours mean/symbolize to you. For example, if you've been taught that a healthy root chakra is red, then you'll probably see a healthy one as vibrant red and an unhealthy one as a muddy red colour. But if you've been taught that healthy chakras look white or clear, then you'll probably perceive them that way instead..but you'll arrive at the same conclusions about someone's energy through looking at their chakras as someone who perceives colours |

Yeah it's definitely possible that my guides are simply using my frame of reference on colors to send me info. I probably wouldn't get hung up on colors. For example I've always been taught the crown chakra is white, while others say it's violet. But if the throat chakra is blue and the third eye chakra is indigo and the crown is violet it's harder to discern them. John Edward in his psychic development CD program also thinks the crown chakra is white. So we're 2 for 2 |

Hi Erin, I have a question concerning the Third Eye Chakra. While researching different methods for cleaning the chakras, I came across an article that says that when your Third Eye is cleaned you should be able to actually see an eye. The person advised noticing whether it was open or closed and to ask for any loving messages it may have. I'm really, really new at the cleaning of chakras. I've only been doing it for two days but already I feel much, much better. More positive and energetic. On the second day after reading this article, I worked on my chakras and attempted to view my third eye but I kept getting distracted. At one time, I thought I saw a flash of it but I couldn't hold the image. I wanted to know if you have heard of that advice and if you have ever seen your Third Eye. Also regarding colors. The only time I seem to be able to see the colors is if my eyes are open. If I close them, then it is much harder for me to visualize the chakra colors. However, when my eyes are closed and I try to focus on my Third Eye chakra, I can see the indigo color. It's really weird. Anyway, thank you to both you and Steve. Collectively, your advice has helped me manifest some great things over the last week and half of following it. I am eternally grateful |

I read that about seeing one's third eye before (possibly even the same article, although I have no recollection where I found it or who the author was). I did the exercise then, but had forgotten about it since until you brought it up. I did see an eye then, and now when I focused on that chakra with the specific intent of seeing an eye, I saw it again, looking exactly the same as I remember from when I first did the exercise. I see (in my mind's eye) my third eye almost like an elephant's eye (that's the best way I can describe it!) - full of ancient wisdom and infinite love and compassion. It's like looking into the soul of the universe. Whether that's what my third eye really looks like, or whether it's just a visual representation that to me best captures the energetic qualities I perceive, I don't know. But either way, it seems like a good method to connect to your third eye energy. |

Hi all, after reading Erins blog post i got curious and let my chakras get checked. One thing which struck me the most was the heart chakra. Aside being near standstill spinning-wise, the colour differs from the original green colour and is showing off as blue. Does anybody has a clue what a blue heart chakra might indicate? Best regards rpk

Blue is the throat chakra color and is involved with expression and communication. If I saw blue in a stagnant heart chakra I would assume the person is frustrated because they are unable to connect with others or are frustrated in their ability to tap into their own heart (connection with self). If I saw blue in a healthy, spinning, clear heart chakra, it would mean the person is out there very expressing compassion, connection, and love. |

On the one hand, the chakras appear to correlate strongly with the electromagnetic spectrum, red being the lowest vibrational wave-length our physical eyes can detect, and violet being the highest wave-length our eyes can detect. From my studies, I've come to understand the chakras as each being each associated with a different vibrational threshold or "plane" as well as a body which occupies that given plane. These "thresholds" are "dressed" by our minds as "color" because that's generally an easy way for our minds to interpret the differences in vibration. Its something we are physically comfortable with. Each "higher" plane is capable of containing the lower planes within it. The seventh chakra, the crown, is associated the "Buddhic plane", or "7th density", as some call it, and is union with the ALL. Its interesting to note that white is the culmination of ALL colors (except black). So it is not too far a stretch of the imagination to see why some clairvoyants would see the chakra as extremely white in color. Or even violet for that matter. One symbolizing the union of ALL vibrational thresholds, the other symbolizing a very HIGH vibration. I think Anna is right about the idea of different colors symbolizing different things. I would only add that there are collective interpretations in the universal mind of the conscious omniverse. I guess it just depends what level of reality we are drawing our perception from. Best regards. | |

I read up once again on Erin's chakra blog posts and decided to finally do the cleansing everyday. The first time I tried it, I felt no better, and my mind kept running off in between. I woke up the next day feeling quite distinctly good though. I've been in a state of anxiety for a few months and I woke up feeling none at all, I felt lighter and more fun. Yesterday I did it again, I was feeling very anxious about going out and once I finished the cleansing routine, I felt a lot better. I went out and did what I had to, I even strayed and met a friend and had a good time. As opposed to my being holed up and avoiding people for a long time. (Yes, I have issues!) I did notice a few strange things. First off, some of the chakras I was going through seemed to spin a lot more sluggishly, this could be my overactive imagination, it's hard to tell. Secondly, on both days, when I reached my throat chakra, I felt a small pain on the left of my chest and my lower back started twitching. This was not my imagination, I could feel the twitch rather strongly. Anyone have answers? Would love to know. Last edited by Warping; 06-19-2009 at 12:44 PM. Reason: Added some stuff I left out. |

Hi all. Im new in the forum as well as chakra development. I have some problems here, hope you guys can help me. Lately, when Im sitting in class, bus or lying on the bed, sometimes Id use those idle time to visualize my Root Chakra opened and cleaned the way Erin mentioned in her blog. I'd look down and 'see' a red ball of light pulsating and occasionally spinning inside me. However, its hard for me to visualize effectively while lying down or without looking at the corresponding location. I tried closing my eyes and simply 'seeing' the energy ball in my head, but it didnt feel right. It felt as if Im 'looking' at the Third Eye Chakra in red colour instead of the Root Chakra I wanted to clean. If it helps, here's the test result from Chakra Test I took just now. Root: open (38%) Sacral: under-active (6%) Navel: over-active (75%) Heart: under-active (0%) Throat: open (63%) Third Eye: open (56%) Crown: open (19%) Maybe I went wrong somewhere, or maybe its just a bad case of coincidence, but I kept on sneezing and coughing badly for the last 48 hours or so. Please advice me on how to start managing my chakras properly. Thanks in advance. |

sometimes before spinning my chakras, or a day where i feel like i haven't moved around enough to get my 'chi' flowing, I picture white all over me like the 'chi' spinning from my head to my toes and around and around in a circle. Is that like spinning all my chakra's or clearing them? sometimes i also picture my chakra's as green before their appropriate vibrant color as an attepmt to heal them. I'm not mixing the colors by doing this am i? |
