Is that my spirit guide?

Just today afternoon, i was taking an afternoon nap when i got into a lucid dream. Then, i remembered reading somewhere that dreams are a good way to ask to meet your spirit guides, so i asked for them to appear.

Suddenly, in front of me, a white brightness shone brightly and when it dimmed down, i found myself in a room and this man sitting in front of a table. Previously, i did a meditation to try to contact my spirit guides and the name Sandy popped into my mind, so i asked him if his name was Sandy. He shook his head and said it was Penny.

I didn't feel anything spectacular or familiar about this man. To me, he was just a person who appeared when i asked my spirit guide. I didn't feel anything special towards him and my attitude was kind of like "hmm, so you are my spirit guide?"

Anyway, i can only piece together fragments of the dream, and one of these fragments was when he pulled me over and told me he had something important to tell me. That i had to concentrate on my studies rather than football, and that i had a limited time for growth and i had to do it quickly.

I asked him whether i had other spirit guides and where they were but he didn't reply. Then he suddenly went away for a while, and there i was waiting for him. I felt my throat become really dry and thirsty and felt uncomfortable in the dream, so i told him i was going to leave, and after waiting for about 5 minutes, i exited out of the dream to get a drink of water.

After that, i lay on my bed thinking about that meeting. While it was true that he appeared when i asked to see my spirit guides, i didn't feel anything special, or familiar towards him. He felt as familiar as any random dream character, and the things he told me were neither clear, logical, profound or anything resembling a message that really related to my life except for maybe the fact that i was kind of slacking off my studies for the upcoming tests next week and the fact that i was playing football manager games.

At first, i interpreted his message as to tell me to pursue a football career later and focus on studies. But perhaps, it was just as simple as to first focus on studies before playing football in order to prepare for the tests next week.

As for the dream, besides it being longer, more stable and the fact that i could feel my throat being dry in the dream, it wasn't especially vivid and didn't stir up anything within me. My encounter with him was also kind of stale, after my initial excitement at meeting him, it sort of faded away when we talked. In fact, i was like "wtf, i have a noob spirit guide if that's my spirit guide" after the dream because i didn't feel he was really helpful or familiar.

Anyway, i'm thinking that possibly, that isn't really my spirit guide but simply just a dream character my mind concocted to masquerade as my spirit guide. But i'm not really sure and i hope someone with more experience like Erin can enlighten me!

First off, kudos on being lucid enough to ask for your spirit guide.

Second, he was indeed a guide. He may not have been a dominant guide. Remember you have scores of guides but you have dominant ones as well.

Thirdly, don't scoff at first contact or you'll block further communication. He came through with a message, you received it, it made sense to you, follow it and see what happens. Guides are not angelic omniscient beings who go around giving profound wisdom and advice all the time. Continue working on your connection and you'll get the "better" stuff in time.

I'm sorry... when I read that I laughed out loud. Not because it was a dumb thing to say or think from our perspective, that's a completely rational fear. It's how you or I might respond if someone said we weren't doing our jobs well.

It's just that our Guides are completely non-judgemental. There's really very little - if anything - you can do that would "upset" them. They know who you are, what you are, what you REALLY think and guess what?... They don't care; they love you anyway.

I've flat out "fought" with my guides over things: "There's NO WAY I'm doing that!! You've got to be CRAZY!! Hmmmph. See if I ever talk to YOU again..." Ok, so less of a fight and more of a temper tantrum, but regardless of what I thought about them or said about them, I always come around in the end, come back with my tail between my legs like a scorned puppy (not because THEY scorned me mind you, but rather because the Universe scorned me for not doing what they told me to..) and they're always right there waiting for me. No reproach, no, "I told you so..." just simply ready to pick up wherever we left off with nothing but love, understanding and compassion.

So, when you said you hoped your Guide forgave you, it just rang as amusing to me.

And oh, btw... congratulations on connecting. You may not get it for a while, but that one action has just changed your life in ways you may not understand until you die.

Mato Kinze, that really makes sense. Everytime I do something that I feel guilty about, I'll say "forgive me," and the first phrase that pops in my head, every time, without fail, is, "forgive yourself." We're the only ones who are doing all the judging.

Yeah, I'm not really a big one on "forgiveness". To forgive is to still live in the past. What's done is done, there's no "reverse time cube" that's going to undo it. So forget about it. Move on from where you are and make your choices count from here on out. I guess that could be one definition of forgiveness though, so take it for what it's worth.
