third eye and crystals

2 questions.


1 - I experienced a strange sensation today. I was at 'work' and in the middle of talking when I felt this tingling sensation directly where my third eye would be - right in between my eyebrows. It was such a specific and concentrated tingling, it distracted me. I've never felt anything like that before. It lasted a little bit, but not that long - I wasn't at liberty to meditate or anything like that since I had my obligations/responsibilities of my job to worry about.

Can anyone tell me what this might mean?


2 - There's a little new-age type shop near where I live, and a couple weeks ago I was drawn there and I bought a few small quartz crystals. I've heard they are apparently good for aiding in astral projection. But does anyone know How? And do quartz crystals need clarifying at all?

Put your quartz crystals under your pillow at night. See what happens. Come to think of it, I always slept with my favorite quartz crystal under my pillow at night during the time I was doing the heaviest astral projecting. Could be coincidence, but it can't hurt.

Tingling third eye area... could be something physical or it could be psychical. Hard to say without feeling it myself.

I doubt that anyone is particularly interested in this, but as it's related to my first post in this thread, I thought I'd write about it here.

That 3rd-eye spot was tingling again quite a bit today, on and off.

Earlier tonight this man who says he's like an energy healer of some kind (a complete stranger - he was actually an actor in a play I saw this evening); he said I was just buzzing like crazy and he tried doing some kind of energy work on me - he said something about how my life was busy and if I took the time to slow down and focus on one thing rather than a lot, than that thing would be so much better for me.

I wonder if these incidents are somehow related...

You could be experiencing an awakening in that area. This might be weird, but next time you feel the buzzing feeling in your third eye, touch the quartz crystal to it.

It hasn't buzzed/tingled since, however. But I'll let you know if there are any further developments on that front.

There may be too much energy running through your third eye chakra. This can happen when you begin using your intuition or open up your clairvoyance.

It's also the centre of spiritual truth and wisdom, so there can be changes in this energy centre when you awaken your own spiritual wisdom.

If you wanted to rebalance it, you could place amethyst on your third eye and intend for it to rebalance the energy there.

Hi Rachelle.

It definitely sounds like you are experiencing a level of third eye opening, a precursor to psychic awakening.

To try and amplify the opening you could add some amethyst to your already existing crystal collection. One technique is to set your amethyst up, using three pieces, in a triangle on the floor and lay between them for 5-10 minutes.

You could also try to meditate more often (daily) and introduce aromatherapy oils into these meditation sessions. (Or maybe aromatherapy baths.) Lavender and Geranium are good scents for psychic development.

Hi, I just joined this forum. I was drawn here because I'm just starting my exploration into the relationship between the third eye and crystals. I've had a lot of experience with my third eye. When I was a child I remember I used to hold my finger just an inch or so away from my third eye and feel a strange sensation there. I did it without knowing anything about chakras...I was just a kid and it felt good so I would do it quite absent-mindedly - sitting in front of the television, reading...etc. As I teenager, I forgot all about it but then in my early twenties I took up yoga and meditation. One day I was meditating and without warning my third opened. It's hard to describe the feeling - a little like what I would imagine a magnet feels when it comes in proximity to metal...maybe...something like that. It was a fantastic experience that first time, as if a dam was bursting. But it was also a little bit unnerving. I remembered my experiences as a child and thought maybe I should be careful about going into something I don't know anything about without some guidance. I called my meditation instructor and told her about the experience. She was quite excited and said that I was probably born with that chakra open. She suggested I continue to explore it through meditation. Over the past decade, I have been, off and on. I recently came back to meditation after I moved to a small cabin in the woods in southern Turkey. I met a man there who is studying crystals. While sitting with him, flicking through a book he was reading I thought that maybe I should try to see what kinds of interactions exist between crystals and the third eye chakra. So I asked my friend if he had any crytals lying around. He gave me a piece of labradorite and aquamarine. I tried the labradorite first. I lay back on the ground and relaxed through breathing and focusing on my third eye. Then I placed the crystal on my chakra. There was an instant reaction. The sensation was as strong as it was that first time when the chakra opened while I was meditating. But it was different as well, it spread through my body and seemed to concentrate around my heart. I could feel my heart thumping like a hammer. After the labradorite, I tried the aquamarine. Again the feeling was instantaneous, and again it was different. This time, the sensation was strongest on the third eye itself. The stone seemed to get heavier as if it was pushing down into the chakra. A week or so later, I found another crystal at my friend's house. I'm not sure what it is - it's clear, colourless. I tried it on my chakra and this time felt a sharper sensation. Whereas before the feeling was dull, almost blunted, this time it was pointed, almost like a needle. After some minutes it settled and I felt completely relaxed. This time the direction of the flow of energy seemed to be moving from my body into the crystal. It was...refreshing. When I finished, I felt completely relaxed and invigorated. I've continued to use that clear crystal ever since but I'm also interested in trying some others. My birthstone is amethyst and I've read that amethyst is strongly connected to the third eye so I want to try it. But still, I'm not sure if I should just be randomly placing crystals on my third eye. I'm worried I might be harming myself in some way. Can anyone give me any guidance?
