Default How many indigo children?

I have been reading some stuff by Doreen Virtue ( cheers for tip Erin ) on Indigo and crystal children.

She and others like her say Indigo children have been born on this planet to raise the collective consciousness and challenge the status quo.

I went through the character traits of an Indigo child ( google them if wish to know them) and yes a lot of characteristics to resonate and describe my character. But then i thought the characteristics are quite vague and could apply to a lot of ppl, so can see why critics are sceptical.

But an experience i had with my friends 2 yr old makes me think there are Indigo and crystal children here for a purpose. The experience wasn't what you would call a 'phenemenon' it was just a rapport i had with the little fellow, he looked at me with his big piercing blue eyes and for the first time in my life i felt understood, and he didn't say anything! I spent the whole day with him on a bouncy castle while all the adults were talking and drinking.

So i wanted to know if anyone considers themselves and Indigo child? or have they met these so called indigo or crystal children?

interesting..
i have no idea if i would call myself an indigo child because it is really really broad and you probably would have had to talk to me when i was little..
i can definitely relate to the skeptics on why they don't believe it

but i did feel a great sadness when i was a child, in that i felt there had to be more to life then just school and doing daily chores and going to lessons.. i didn't understand my purpose and i wanted to know more.. i needed a purpose..

i also was able to win raffles that i wanted to win back then -- i'd see a manger display of the holy night (back then i was raised as a catholic) and i saw it and had this attraction to it.. and my mom said 'lets leave' but they were about to hold the raffle... and i was picked..
i also won a trip to jamaica -- again i was really attracted to that one contest and possibility and so i tried and picked me.. but i was too young so they gave me a cake instead of the trip and i didn't even like that cake... boo!
i'm also a visual and kinetic learner.. and was really interested in paranormal, mysteries and spirituality -- entitlment? i have no idea.. i was too shy to really demand things i think..
these are my examples.. as lame as they probably are.. i have no idea if that makes me indigo *laughs*
children have always been more sensitive to things so i'm not sure if i believe it either..
although i think i know what you mean with that child.. i've had that before with animals..

strange now that i think about it the children series i'm writing would probably be categorized as 'indigo children' within the story but i had no intention of that.. just my imagination?

Personally, I do believe in the existence of indigo and crystal children... they are really old souls. However, I do think some parents tend to get carried away:

oblivious parent: Ooh, my little Suzie is just acting out because she's an indigo child!
me: no ma'am, little Suzie is acting out because she's a whiny, spoiled brat. And if you don't make her stop kicking my legs, I will.

I've no idea whether I am or have met an indigo child, but I work as a teacher and I know that a great many 'difficult' children, when given respect and attention turn out to be highly intelligent and creative; and can become very helpful towards other less able children. The same is true of older age groups.

Sounds interesting; I think I might be one.

Still, a rather vague description. Also, until I meet someone who can see auras I'm still somewhat skeptical about the phenomenon.

*raises hand*

Haven't done it lately though. I can see when someone is sick (their aura is somewhat funky) but I can't help them, and it's not like a total stranger will believe me when I say "gee, you have a strange cloud-thingy around your head. You should really lay of the drugs, they aren't good for you!". It frustrated me. Call me cynic, but what good can detecting disease be when I can't heal those people or make them believe they need to see a doctor? *sigh*

I think the problem with the indigo label is that it is to poorly defined.

If you look at it from the theories about auras, I don't really believe that there weren't people with an indigo aura in the past.

If you generally talk about troubled children who need to be given respect the way newmark described I also think that those children were always around.
You could even say that every child needs that respect and attention.

Have you actually tried it?
Maybe you just need to tell better stories. Tell them they look like another person who had the disease you are seing in them and how going to the doctor helped that person.
Whether they actually do go to the doctor has everything to do with the quality of your presentation.

Telling they look like another person, might work

I have tried to heal others and I actually did have some 'success'. Problem was, that I didn't make the pain go away: it transferred to me! I'm like a sponge rather than an eraser and I have gotten very weak and sick from it. I'd rather not go through that again, unless it is my sister or my parents. For them, I would risk it.

ok so i googled indigo children.. and there is a difference between indigo and indigo crystal children.
i pretty much score with all the characteristics of the indigo crystal child.
the main difference seems to be temperment.

this is a link i used: Characteristics of Crystal Indigo Child,Comparison Child Indigo,Child Rainbow

so it says we really like crystals. does it mean that they work best for us? i've never tried it because as i got older i lost interest in them.. they just became kitchy pastel stones to me..

although it says they are fearless.. i was fearless.. up until i was 3.. then i was playing a game of trust with my older sister and she didn't want to play anymore. so i threw myself off concrete steps anyway.. landed on my forehead and now have a scar where my 3rd eye should be. looks like it got damaged

I'm in agreement here that the Indigo label is poorly defined...years ago when trying to figure some things out with the help of a therapist I came to the conclusion that my borther and I are gifted in some way, which would explain the numerous difficulties/talents we both had, have..the therapist agreed with my conclusion. Anyway this began much reading about giftedness, asperger's , indigo & crystal children, star seeds, walkins etc etc,.
And guess what they all sound similar. I'm not so sure that these indigo children haven't always been around....perhaps no one noticed before, until recently...
In a sense, I've always felt understood when gazing at a dog or a baby, but I don't think that's because the baby may be an indigo....

A baby or a dog is so pure...you connect to that pureness..where usually I'd feel an immense sense of love just by gazing...and transformed...
I've also gotten this feeling from flowers..
