Default cluster of lights

hi everyone, just wanted to share new experience i have been having last few nights. I said before i often see a bright white light, and also a light that changes colour from red to indigo and green.

recently though after i pray/meditate and switch off all the lights and lie in bed i get a cluster of about 6 or 7 white lights that hover over my head and move about together like a swarm of bees. Anyone else get this? (pls say you do!! ;-)

Doreen Virtue says those are angel lights or spirit lights. I don't really see those myself so can't comment from experience. But it sounds good

Are they in direct line of sight or do they stay sort of on the periphery? Can you follow them with your gaze or do they elude direct-sight contact?

I can follow them but they do move from left to right according to where i'm focusing. But it isn't like i focus on them and they disappear, they hang around and watching me gaze in awe

I think it could be to do with i have been asking a lot of questions lately, and have tried to have a conversation with my spirit guide. But i fell asleep spoke to someone in my sleep, then woke and forgot the conversation and her name!

I am quite a visual person so maybe they understand that, who knows

I asked because you may be "seeing stars". Your description is very similar to this phenomenon and is something I've experienced often. Seeing stars is usually due to a lack of blood reaching the brain, and thus a lack of oxygen. Most commonly this happens after standing up quickly or straightening after bending over. You don't see it all the time because the arteries serving the brain reflexively dilate to maintain pressure, but those reflexes may be disturbed by lack of sleep or food, a hangover, or an infection. Physical trauma may also cause the reflex to malfunction, which is why stars float around Sylvester the Cat's head when he gets bonked. In your case, it may very well be that as you lay down to sleep, you are experiencing postural hypotension – or a rapid decrease in blood pressure caused by the change in going from standing to laying down.

Rarely, seeing stars can be caused by too much blood reaching the brain. This doesn't happen much outside of the laboratory or a jet fighter, as the arteries have a very strong constriction reflex to keep it in check.
The stars you see may actually be neurons in your visual cortex misfiring - a hallucination at the lowest possible level. When the neurons' oxygenation changes drastically, their membrane potential also changes. Ordinarily this wouldn't matter, because all of the surrounding neurons' potentials would change at the same time. When it happens due to standing or going prone quickly or taking a few G's of acceleration, the change happens so fast that the neurons closest to capillaries change well before the surrounding neurons. This causes them to fire spontaneously which your brain interprets as vision; you see stars.

Another possible cause of seeing stars is posterior vitreous detachment, which mostly affects people over age 50. PVD happens when the eye's vitreous shrinks and collapses, detaching it from the inner surface of the eye. This causes all manners of floaters and distortions to be visible, including ones that look just like the stars mentioned above. PVD can result in retinal breakage or detachment and thus cause blindness, so if you're noticing a sudden onset of seeing stars and other visual phenomena you should probably go see your doctor.

Of course, they could be spirit lights too. I just don’t want to rule out the mundane right off the bat. And if it IS mundane, it's probably something you should get checked - you know... 'just in case."

Do you meditate with candles? If you meditate with candles and gaze towards the flames, then afterwards you'll see lights lights just like you've been describing, because of the "imprint" the prolonged focussed light leaves on the retina in your eyes.

If it's a repeatable clustered series of lights, I doubt it's afterimage or blood flow. That would be random and shifting. Unless you brush your teeth in a place where bright light is directly in the same exact place where you stare in the mirror every night. But even that would be really difficult to reproduce and would generally have movement trails associated with them.

Sounds fascinating. Are they friendly? Or scary?

Jennifer

mato - I am a pretty healthy person so dnt think it's health related. Also i am usually relaxed and the rooms been dark for a while.

jennifer - It was a little scary when i first started seeing this one white light, but then i got used to it and my beliefs have really shifted a lot in the last yr with regards to spiritual stuff.

I'm not sure if i am naturally inducing the feeling, but when i get quite a cluster of lights i tend to get a little emotional, it's a bit sad but i feel if it is a spirit or angel then i don't want to be letting them down, i kind of think i want them to be happy with me.

It's weird like a lot of ppl I have always believed angels existed, but now it's gone from a subtle belief to a firm conviction. And to think they watch over us our whole lives is truly amazing.

Hi!

I see lights too, white ones and of all different colours.

The lights I see look nothing like the stars you see when you get up too quickly or hit your head on something!

I saw coloured lights for the first time soon after I called upon the Angels to assist me in my life, so I believe they’re angel lights. I often feel a deep sense of love when I see them, which is something else that tells me that they're connected to Angels.

I was also taught that white lights are your prayer and intention energy being transported by beings in spirit.

Anna

yep been getting the coloured lights too, for about 6 months now. I have just been reading about Reiki and self healing and i think i have been unintentionally cleaning my auras, as i tend to feel the urge to place hands on my stomach and and chest. I am noticing a pattern now when i see the coloured lights.

And yes the white lights i usually see after a deep and hearty pray, so that would make sense. All this action is leading me to want to go to my spiritualist church as i really need to meet others who have same experiences as me, as right now i am feeling i cant share stuff with anyone, cos my mates aren't the spiritual types. ( thank god for erin pavlina forum )
