Hi! Erin, I remember you wrote in your blog that you decide when to die, so if a loved one passes away we should be comforted by the fact that they themselves made this decision. But what if this person was murdered or something? Did they still choose to die? People have free will so they can mess up any plans you made before you were born as a human. So do we really choose when we die? Also, I have a question related to this about animals. Some people, like Steve, refuse to eat them because they don't endorse the abusive and cruel way they are slaughtered. They should be given a chance at life. But couldn't you have chosen to be a pig or some other animal in order to experience this cruelty for yourself? So the animal intended to be slaughtered this way, they never intended to have a chance at life in the first place. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't get why people who believe we have chosen our life circumstances say that animals should not be slaughtered, since it was their intention to be slaughtered to begin with. This extends to suffering in general, actually. People who are dying of hunger and all, didn't their higher selves intend for this to happen? If we were to help them out wouldn't this be ruining their original plan? I'm not saying I support suffering or anything like that. I just want to understand. |
