Hey everyone! So, last night I had a dream that I tried to interpret, not that it was difficult, but I'm just curious if my interpretation seems pretty close? Dream: I was driving my car underneath a mountain (it was carved out, and water was slowly filling up the hole inside the mountain). I for some reason decide to turn the car off, and I realize that it's a stupid idea. I frantically start trying to turn the car on and I'm worrying that it wont start because the water is damaging it somehow. It starts and I drive through the water and start my way towards a corkscrew turn which is located ahead of me and to the left. The road is made of deep, soft sand which seems like my car (PT Cruiser) wont be able to handle. I take the left turn, and unable to see ahead of me, and scared I'll fall off the edge tightly hug the wall. Once I get far enough, I see the road ahead of me is fine. It's like a corkscrew, so I'm constantly taking lefts, always scared I'm going to fall off, but it always ends up ok. I reach the top, and suddenly become lucid, but then awake very quickly. Lately I've been stressed about my future and my class schedule next year (my first year at university). So it seemed to me as if my subconscious is letting me know that I have nothing to be scared of and that even though it seems scary, everything will be fine. And the deep sand that I could somehow drive over seemed to symbolize the fact that even though it looks difficult, I can overcome anything. Does that seem correct? Thanks for reading! -Logan |

If I had had that dream, I would have had a different view. But the symbolism has to be interpreted by the one who has it. |

Ok. For me, water symbolizes Spirit. The "left" side of things also represents the spiritual versus the physical side. Obviously the driving part is a journey of some kind. When I put these three things together, what comes up for me is that you are on a path of spiritual discovery that is actually taking you further from true spirituality. Now, that being said, please remember that this is how these things occur to me in my dreams. They may or may not have any bearing whatsoever on your situation. |

Logan - I wholeheartedly agree with what Mato says here and Erin said in her blog that dream symbolism is best interpreted by the individual dreamer. And will add that developing the ability to make accurate, meaningful interpretations may take some practice. If you are just beginning to study your dreams, a dream dictionary may be helpful as a jumping-off point of possible interpretations. You would have to keep in mind that it is not a definitive guide and run every description through your own personal filter. Is it true for you? Does that symbol translate in that manner in your life? For example, snakes are sometimes depicted in dream dictionaries as symbolic of transformation or knowledge. However, in my reality, having had many fearful and traumatic experiences involving snakes, I do not see them that way at all. So a snake showing up in my dream will mean something very different. The other most important factor in dream interpretation in my opinion is how you feel about the dream. How did you feel when you had this dream? Identifying the emotion evoked helps a great deal. Keep a log of your dreams and your impressions of what they mean. And have fun with it!
