"The other night I dreamed that my deceased grandfather came to me and we had an intriguing conversation. But when I woke up I forgot the details of what he told me, and I’m sure they were important. Is there any way to get the dream back or to have it repeat so I can find out what he said?"

I too think it is unlikely you’ll be able to get the dream back. But I believe a part of you remembers the dream even if you don't, and if you simply went about your normal tasks in a relaxed way, you may just fulfil your grandfather's wishes without even realising it.

You know, I've done this successfully if I'm barely alert and have the luxury of staying in bed a bit longer. "Wow, what a great dream, I'm going right back to it."

I've never been able to get a dream back that happened several days, weeks, or months ago, though.

Yes I should have clarified, you can get a dream back pretty easily if you just woke from it. But in this particular case she was talking about days later.

I have actually continued a dream years later. I should write about it as it is a trilogy and I'm waiting for the third dream...

I think dreams you can get back into, the next day or month or year after is perhaps connected with healing in some way, for self or other.

I am. of course, simply giving my opinion based on a personal experience.
One significant dream reocurrence come to mind at the moment. I'll share it here for interest sake.

I had a very traumatic childhood, and I was afraid of heights.
We lived on a small mountain that had a scenic walking path with a view over the edge. I was terrified of going on that path, or anywhere near it. But it was visible and close by. Every time, in "real" life, I went toward that place, I felt a strong gravitational pull toward the edge which made me nearly pass out with fear. One night I dreamed I was there on the path, being pulled toward the edge as though I as in a tractor beam. As I hit the guard rail I woke up, shaking and rigid.

Over the next week, every night I would go to bed, I would end up in this same dream, each time being pulled closer till I finally fell off the edge. I fell furtherdown the mopuntain a little more each dream time till on the final dream, I hit the bottom, where I stood in a forest, and everything was ok. I didn't die, and I no longer feared.

I was 5 years old and it is still clear today.

If only this would happen to me again and again with the myriad of other things that need healing as an adult!! lol

Default What about this?

I'm sleeping a lot today. (Feeling a little under the weather). Anyway, during my most recent four hour *nap* I had a deja-vu dream. I don't remember any details of the dream itself but do recall becoming lucid at one point and saying to myself, "I've had this dream before. I can tell everything that's going to happen next." I outlined everything that was going to happen next, then slipped back into the dream. Everything occurred as I remembered.

I felt rather disoriented when I woke up - still do - and disappointed that I couldn't remember the dream. Seems to me if you repeat a dream it must be important.

Weird.

I repeat dreams often. I often know what's going to happen in a dream before it happens, because I remember the dream while I'm in it.

All of my dreams are important to me so I usually remember all of them each night. The ones that repeat do seem to have greater significance. Pay attention to what they're telling you or how they're making you feel.
