Hello zeroone According to some of my spiritual knowledge and some experience, in order for you to get closer to your spiritual self you will need to extract your self from certain attachments to this physical world. Hence fasting, because food is almost the strongest physical activity that a human being can indulge in. So letting go of some strong physical habits well clear your mind more and help you focus on your spirituality. That’s what I think, am sure others might shed more light on it Thanks Ali |

If fasting equals simply denying yourself something that you still want and will eventually return to when you break the fast, then it may be a good exercise for discipline but I don't think will get you any further from the "realm of the senses." The two are not connected. Sitting quietly in gentle anticipation of connecting to a "window" outside the 5 senses might do more for you if you want to connect to your guides/higher self. Don't knock the fast though, your body might really enjoy it! |
