Last month, in response to an old question by Steve, I posted my guess of Erin's MBTI personality type. Being an old thread, it probably did not attract the attention of those who know. So I'll repost my guess: INFP a.k.a. The Healer. Quote:

That does describe me pretty well. But I would need to read the other categories to see if something fit me better. Or I could take the test. Is there a place online to take the test and determine what category I'm in?

Weird. But the description I read about ESFJ is mostly about socialness and service. While I am very social, that is really not what I am most about. I responded way more decidedly on the questions related to justice, helping others, empathy, etc. And although I would probably make a good sales person it is not what I resonate with at all. I'm more of a helper and healer than a salesman. I need a new test |

I think it should be ENFJ. The NF types are also known as the idealists and i think the Erin should definitely be in there! The N-types are more `big picture'-persons than the S-types. The OP came with INFP. While very nice persons, they seem to be way more docile than Erin is..... And me myself.... I am an INTP. Last edited by Chris_1977; 11-19-2007 at 02:54 PM. | There are other personality tests online that have similar characteristics of the Myers-Briggs (you can google them), but the most accurate results would likely come from having the real test administered by a psychologist in a controlled enviornment. Added on edit: Also look at the percentages of each section. How much E, S, F, and J are you? I, for example, hit right about 50% on the Extraversion/Introversion part. So depending on my mood, mindset, time of day, whatever, I sometimes come up as ESFJ, sometimes as ISFJ. Last edited by Lola; 11-19-2007 at 03:15 PM. Reason: more to say |

Here is another test Erin. Its best to cross-check it. Personality Test and Types (Myers-Briggs, Jungian Psychological Typology) (you do have to sign up though, it just takes a few seconds) Edit: My guess is that Erin is an INFP (or ENFP). Last edited by Bene; 11-19-2007 at 03:33 PM. |

Case in point, if you truly want the results of Myers-Briggs typology, it's best to take the real test. **off to ponder my chameleon personality**

I took the official test in college with a career counselor and found out I am an INFP. Any online MB test I take puts me in the INFP category too.

Tonight, I just took both of tests listed here - Dan's and Bene, and I got scored the same: INTJ. That's pretty neat. I had taken them a long time ago and couldn't remember it. Thanks for bringing it up, goes well with Steve's posts on career planning.

| Actually, these two should not be so difficult to distinguish. These two types are perhaps best characterized by the university studies where they flock together. In computer science a very large portion tends to be INTP while in psychology very many students are ENFP. I don't think there are any two types or any two university studies for which the correlation is stronger! For an INTP abstract thinking is the prime thing while for an ENFP understanding people is the most important strength. People can do both, of course, but you could ask yourself the question to which of the two you were most inclined to at a young age.

Had to laugh - I know I'm INFP, always rate that way very strongly, but I took the test originally posted by Bene, and was reading about famous INFPs, etc. Toward the bottom of the page is a link to some online groups! LOL Ummm... an online group to discuss being introverted? No, thank you. I'll just stay here. By myself. LOL

Well, its likely no one will check in to this sleeping post, but it intrigued me! As an unemployed career counsellor, lol, these things always intrigue me!! Yes, the official myers-briggs MBTI testing is quite lengthy, more so than the on line variations of the "please understand me" book or or models, but who is to say it is more accurate. The front type and the back end type may change or fluctuate, but your centre characteristic pairing, is scientifically "supposed " to remain unchanging. Hmmmmm. In my case, I scored E/INTP in college, 8 years later, same test INFP...And although I had been qualified to test and score the MBTI with others, I never did. Who needs another label? Who needs to be group and corralled inside another box of limitations? I felt all this sort of testing, while objectively being of value working in a team/family environmnet, eventually was subjectualized by the individual, and ended up being very growth restrictive. Also, the interesting phenomena happened where a once united group of individuals, became divided and negative toward one another after they had received their "designated" MBTI badge type. It was really hard working with a class who had "new identities" over night. LOL I swear it was like an episode from Smallville. Anyway, in the spirit of unity and love!! Only take love as a test!! |

I thought the Introverted/Extroverted labels didn't refer to whether one was retiring, or outgoing, but to how the person recharges themselves. Introverted tend to recharge by being by themselves and Extroverted tend to recharge by being with others. I came up as an INFP Healer. I'm pretty extroverted and outgoing with other people. I need regular alone time to decompress though. |
