Thanks for the recommendation Erin! Adding Tears of Hope to the wishlist now.. One good one I've been reading lately is "Baghdad Burning," the blog of a young female Iraqi programmer going back to 2003, when the US invasion of Iraq first began. Reading firsthand accounts can really give you some perspective on things you'd never hear about in our media. |

yeah, it's pronounced like Amy. One thing I really liked about the book is that she doesn't discuss politics. In the end, when your house is being blown up by bombs and your family is dying you don't really care who is behind it, you just want it to stop. she was so young when it started there was probably no way she could understand why someone would want to bomb her home anyway. What was weird for me was meeting the adult Aimmee before reading about her childhood. After I read her book I had an amazing new appreciation for the courage she must have had to get where she is today. |
