Default Low feeling

Dear friends,

I want to talk about a particular state of mind that i experience ocasionally. The mind gets into this state without any apparent stimulation. While it is in this state i feel, to out it simple, sad. I feel as if i am overwhelmed by all problems in life and will be unable to solve them. Its not as severe as depression. Its only temporary but once it comes there is no saying when it'll go and it usually abates when i get through some pleasent experience like some congratulating me on some achievement etc. But till then there is an uncomfortable feeling of insecurity. You feel cowed down by the very same problems and situation and people whom you had conquered in the past. Yet it would be inappropriate to call it depression because its not that severe.
Has anyone had such feelings ?
How have you dealt with it ?
I usually tell myself at such times that i cannot be at my best at all times so its okay once in a while. But if such feelings strike at key momments like interview etc, then they have the potential to spell disaster.

Hi as5tx,

Yes, I have indeed had such moments. I think you're right in that sometimes things just get overwhelming and no one feels on top of the world every single day.

Sometimes diet, lack of proper exercise or rest can also be a factor. You not only feel overwhelmed psychologically, but physically you may be lacking too.

When these moments occur for me, I work on talking myself out of them, listen to some soothing music, read something inspiring or if it's not too strong that day, I just ride it out. It's not always easy. Often after a good sleep, I feel as good as new. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The universe will catch up with you. If you take positive action to fix this, it might not be immediate, but you're going to feel fantastic.

So about four months ago I met this girl who was a teenager on MySpace, recovering from an eating disorder, and we talked about a particular political leaning I had because she was unfamiliar with it, and it really clicked for her and she was really interested to learn.

Also, she'd gained quite a bit of weight. She had limited money and posted a thread asking for bargains on clothes in a group. Well, I had quite a few old things I was looking to ditch, and offered to mail them. Did so.

Lost interest in MySpace. So on this other board I belong to (I cheat on Steve and Erin; oh noes. ) this similar girl pops up, in a picture wearing a hoodie that resembles mine!

And she sends me the most thoughtful PM. And I cried in the bathroom for about 20 minutes, because I never would have anticipated someone being so damn sweet.

So the point is, the universe repays. Just remember to put stuff in.
