Default How to survive cancer

In September of 1988 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I was 31 years old and previous to this, immortal. Perhaps I was mistaken on the last part. Two months later on New Years Eve my ex-wife left me taking our two year old daughter. In March of 1989 I finished eight months of very intense chemotherapy. The depression started long before that.

Nice to meet a fellow cancer survivor. Mine was in the brain. The key for me was keeping a positive mental attitude and getting myself off the fact I could die. I never thought about death once. It was all about feeling better and getting my life back.

It's never hopeless. All you need to do is have the right attitude and take the right steps to become healthy once again. Three surgeries, countless MRI's and 30 days of radiation was all I needed and I came out much better for it. Thanks for sharing your story.

Wow, Buddy! You definitely get a thumbs up for your survival and your attitude. I'm a 6-year survivor of breast cancer. My treatment took an entire year, from diagnosis and surgery through six months of chemo and six weeks of radiation. I also kept a positive attitude and never once thought about dying. While having chemotherapy, I used to visualize the drugs going into my bloodstream like little Pac Men eating up all the bad cancer cells

I've said this before: Having cancer was in many strange ways the best thing that ever happened to me!
