The last couple of days really hit me for six (to use a British Cricketing expression).

About 6 weeks ago we rearranged our mortgage which ultimately meant that we could save about £300 a month. In addition we will shortly be in a position where my wife could earn an income again as all the children would be at school.

Unfortunately we've not got a great credit history and despite the mortgage company earning extra money from us long term and the deal making it easier to control our finances, they refused it.

This has blown all our plans and we have a challenging time ahead because we are already behind on some payments.

We do have a couple options but they will take time and there are some immediate bills to pay and are still 2 weeks from pay day.

On top of that a hero of mine died last night of cancer and today my wife bumped a car causing damage to both. We are expecting a call from the owner of a BMW.

I'm not going to let this beat me. Despite everything - and what my wife says - I think we are inherently fortunate people. Lucky if you like.

Life is cyclical. We all have ups and downs but I still believe this will work out for the best. I said in the August challenge thread that I plan having the best month ever and that hasn't changed.

I have an August countdown clock on my PC and I have sense that before that clicks down a major upturn in fortunes will be upon us.

Just you wait and see.

Hey, Tuumble. I bet you've heard the saying When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

It sounds like you've got a great positive head on your shoulders. I know things will work out for the best for you and your family. Just imagine what greatness awaits. If this mortgage deal was denied it is only because there is something better out there you need to be available for.
