Default Massage Therapy?

Has anyone found/learned about permanent emotional benefits from massage therapy, and if so, where can I read more about it?

I'm not a practitioner, just a happy customer. I have realized shortly after a massage that I have taken myself way too seriously in the past. I've also become more accepting of traumatic events that have happened to me, because of the wonderful accepting feelings I get during the massage. I have no idea how my therapist does it, but her technique is like a cross between traditional massage and EFT. It's so great that I am going to tell my talk therapist about her, so she can recommend other people to the massage therapist when they are going through tougher times.

The mind (emotions) cannot be separated from the body... what we experience emotionally is reflected and impregnated in our body... and, in that way, a massage is a bit like a cleansing of those embodied experiences... I have seen tremendous beneficial changes in my patients following massages...

The power of the human touch can be mind boggling... I highly recommend it...

My girlfriend has a condition called "Slipping Rib Syndrome" which can be quite painful, so she gets massages every couple of weeks.

Over the last couple of months, I have basically taught myself the art of massage, and she claims that I am just as good as many of her massage therapists that she visits (but not all of them!).

This video series on Youtube is what kicked it off for me. With a little practice almost anyone will be more than satisfied with your efforts. The lady teaching the video is excellent. Highly recommended!

Several friends and I massage each other most every week. It's a great way to strengthen bonds and simply feel wonderful for a while. Sometimes we'll have five or more people lined up massaging each other, other times 2-5 people work on one person. Quite fun For me touch is a great way of balancing emotions. Babies are the same. We all need skin contact of one form or another.

I agree with you... you don't have to be a rocket scientist to be able to give a good massage... A little TLC (that's "tender loving care") and a little baby powder will do wonders...

I really enjoy massage. I use it to get in touch with my deeper self. It is especially useful when I am feeling some intense emotion that appears in my life. Massage also is just nice physically for me.

I could go on and on but I will stop now!
