Smile NLP, overcoming shyness, enhancing social skills

Hi guys!

(Note this is about NLP, couldnīt find any thread about that so decided to write a new one, cheers!)
I recently discovered NLP this set of techniques, methodology or whatever it is. Many claim that is wonderful and that can change your life.

I am actually looking for a really specific goal which is overcoming shyness and becoming an extremely social guy like those guys that know lots of people and canīt make 3 steps without coming across anyone they know and that r always looking for people to talk to...

Well, I've reading about this NLP and to be honest I do not believe in miracles, but anyways I'll just wanna ask u whether anyone has tried this out and can give me some feedback on it.I have considered taking a weekend seminar sometime but they're pretty expensive in the UK. If anyone knows any good place I'm open to suggestion,

cheers!

In my experience, NLP is not magic, but it sure has helped me communicate.
With NLP I learned how to make eye contact with people. other benefits:

better self understanding.
The ability to see from others' perspective.
Improved human relations
Fearless in a roomful of strangers.

That's good to hear DANDUNGAN, I would want to try NLP but wait until I've finished my book about Mental Math and The 4 Hours Work Week.

NLP is mostly known for helping yourself believe more in your goals. I've only heard stories from testimonials that are quite famous besides NLP and without it have had a great life but also tried the NLP system and became even more satisfied with it. The reason why I haven't gotten into it is that it seems a bit manipulative and artificial.

So bottom line is NLP is good as long as you use it right and for good causes. Have a nice day!

Not sure if you've ever heard of him, but my friend Mark Harrison has some good resources on NLP and is a coach as well.

He has a website, Effortless Abundance, with several free articles on NLP. I'm not sure what his coaching fees are, but he also has books/ products as well.

I'm from the U.S., so I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but Mark is great.

I used to be deadly shy. Now, I am outgoing, and am looking forward to giving my first course here in Mexico.

NLP for me is a wonderful tool! It is a way of discovering how the mind works and using that in your favor.

Saying that it is manipulative is ok, it might be. But so is cooking food. You put the veggies to boil, add some salt, maybe some other herbs... so that the end result tastes good and works for you.
Same with using how your mind works to create lasting change in the way YOU want lasting change to be created.

It is a quick fix and not a quick fix at the same time.

Take for example a "like to dislike" technique, where you can create a situation where a food (junk food, or something bad for you) you suddenly don't like anymore. Great stuff right? So now you don't eat bad stuff anymore....

Sort off.... if you don't deal with the underlying issue of why you want to eat bad stuff in the first place, you'll either be stuck with eating something you don't like anymore, or you will simply find something different and equally bad to eat.

TIME Techniques is a "spin off" NLP technique that uses a lot of other techniques as well, and for me that is the basis of any and all interventions. Because it goes directly to the root cause of any unwanted behavior, emotion, limiting belief, it is very powerful in creating lasting change.

However, very important, is taking action. if you just do the techniques and then change nothing in your daily life, nothing much will happen differently... It makes making changes easier, but it doesn't make changes happen automatically. You'll still have to get out of your chair and into the world.
