Someone actually said that to me.

I'm more than 20 years old and this is the first time in my life that I felt so complimented, even though calling me a white knight was so obviously intended as a snarky put-down. I felt a rush and a high on joy.

This is abnormal for me, even lately. I'm an empathic sponge, and usually a lot more humble. You know the "blue hair" theory of personal insecurity? Never worked on me before. I could wear loafers and you could say my shoelace is untied, and with enough malice behind the words I would fail in the middle of my counterargument and huddle in the corner of a public bathroom crying.

Now I feel smug and superior just because the snarker has no clue how that insult backfired. Backfired! The very intrapersonal laws that I lived by are going all bizarre on me!

What ever could be right?

'Someone' is right, the defendant pleads guilty, case closed.

Not so much an insult as an indication of your inflated sense of self importance (big ego).

Congratulation though on having your own opinion and feelings.

A happy extreme is definitely better than a miserable extreme, but it was a surprise to discover the happy medium had passed me by.
