Default My ADD ADHD Self Help, Self Healing Story

I just wrote "My ADD ADHD Self Help, Self Healing Story" for my website.

It took me 44 years to crack this nut of wondering why I didn't fit in, yet feeling myself to be kind and eager to share.

Hope you enjoy it and please share your stories!

Gosh Im starting to think I have ADHD?

Be easily distracted, miss details, forget things, and frequently switch from one activity to another
Have difficulty maintaining focus on one task
Become bored with a task after only a few minutes, unless doing something enjoyable
Have difficulty focusing attention on organizing and completing a task or learning something new or trouble completing or turning in homework assignments, often losing things (e.g., pencils, toys, assignments) needed to complete tasks or activities
Not seem to listen when spoken to
Daydream, become easily confused, and move slowly
Have difficulty processing information as quickly and accurately as others
Struggle to follow instructions.

If I display all above symptoms does it mean I have it? But Im not in anyway hyperactive..

I can stay focused on what interests me. What interests me is enjoyable.

Instructions are easy for me to follow when they are intelligent.

I have a hard time listening to someone's beliefs vs their revelations. The revelations draw me in. The dogmas make me yawn.

Organizing is mental. It can be creative to create a system to be organized but the daily maintenance is not me. My energy is creative, not repetitive. It's nice to have an organized space but I'm not the one that can do that.

I think we have a ton of energy for life but we live in a society that isn't about blooming but about obedience.

Whatever you think you have or don't have, you have to keep the society at large in context....society is not the norm to aspire to. One look at politics and war is all the proof you need.

And also, look at the times when time flies for you...you were exactly just you, right? Joyful living is not about fitting in but about being authentically you!

Not only that, but it's the medical industry that created these terms. In doing so, they were permitted to medicate Indigos to the point they couldn't function within their natural capacity. I've done extensive research on this matter and have no respect whatever for the medical industry or Big Pharma...all contributors to the Controller of the world. I have every respect for the Indigo, Crystal and Octarine spirits who are here, and i will support them with everything I've got.

exactly....thanks! It's all a matter of degree...whatever represents the masses is "normal" and outside the masses is unpredictable therefore unacceptable.

Ron - I appreciate this thread and your writing about ADHD. It gave me an insight into part of my struggles. I grew up "fitting in" but by early adulthood found myself "outside" the rest. I struggled and struggled to figure it all out and thought I had an answer. I had become bitter and angry about some valid issues which I, unfortunately, carried over into all of my life. Once I recognized this and addressed it I expected to find a way "in." But, alas, no such luck. Raising a child with ADHD who is adorable and creative and pushed out, struggling to make adjustments to get in, SUDDENLY, I am starting to get it. We are NOT going to fit in.

Now I am hoping that I get the next insight which seems to be giving you peace. Thanks again - yet another thing I have to be grateful for.

Very well done. I am not ADD or ADHD but have always been very curious about it. Thanks for sharing an insider’s view.

A copy of comment I left there:
Quote:
I too am highly creative, very intelligent, keenly observant, and a misfit in society but not ADD or ADHD. I suffered much of the same treatment.

Your description of society is very insightful and accurate. I had come the same conclusions. I would like to add one bit you left out. The ‘social norm’ treats anyone that does not fit the ‘standard of normal’ in the same negative way. As I am sure you are aware, basically no one is truly normal. This means they treat pretty much everyone badly, even each other. Constantly worrying about their own inadequacies of not living up to their own self imposed standard is a large part of their unhappiness. The ‘truth’ is so uncomfortable because it reminds them of their short comings.
written from personal curiosity, not to insult anyone: Unlike those with ADD I have extreme focus that has allowed me to be successful within the societal system by completing projects; even without fitting in. Completing large projects gives me internal satisfaction. I have also carefully watched ADD personalities in action. They seem to live life a moment at a time, pursuing whatever interests them most at that moment. From my perspective though they have creativity and insight they don’t seem to dwell long enough to apply these skills to improving their lives. Perhaps life as they find it is good enough? But they often seem bored or distressed so it seem s unlikely. A pure curiosity question for those who have short attention, does it bother you that you effectively can’t complete large projects?

I can be writing; she went down the road. I sometimes write; see went down the road.

It can be little words
Example:

1. I for A or vise versa
2. see for she
3. your for you
4. done for down
5. write for right
6. what for want

I can also skip words all together in my writing...
It goes on and on for me.

I think I get the sounds confused in my brain and when I'm reading I can read the wrong way...So I have to be careful. I don't see backwards.

I don't have a focus problem when it's something I like, I am creative, which I do paintings, singing, and like computers very much.. I will work on it for hours but when my brain is in a deep sleep (its tired) I want get anything right...No matter how much I work on it...
I think we have to break things up to comprehend (this is me) ADD or ADHD is very different for every person.. I know when I am tired...and I work best after a good nights sleep.

I am an artist, I feel that I am gifted in singing and in painting.

I also love my computer. Anything where I can work with my hands keeps my mind busy...but if I have to work the body and the brain it's alot of effort...
and yes if I am in crowd and on a date and the man is talking to me...I hear everybody's conversation around me but his..oops...I have to go somewhere quiet.

That is totally me! I hear every single conversation around me all at once. I love silent places.

That's why I describe people like us as sensitive...that it seems we can collect more "data" from our senses and get a deeper look into life.

To me, it's a beautiful feature, but in a noisy world that is addicted to chattering, we don't fit in.

I feel like I have a surround sound going on...it's okay I feel very gifted to have this..but when you are trying to have a one on one conversation in a crowd..He/she will feel that you are NOT paying addition to the conversation. I am. I just dont hear it.

I difinitly feel ya.

The other school of thought that came out of Attention Deficit Disorder is, that when firsted named, there followed a trend where doctors were quick to diagnose ad(h)d at the drop of a hat and prescribe medications.

Wondering if we too easily give our short-comings over to maladies such as this because then we have an excuse for them? Yes, there are always the definite cases, but do you feel that sometimes its gives one reason not to try different approaches to remedying what might otherwise be a 'lazy' mind and/or body?

Just presenting the other side of the coin...don't shoot the messenger please.

I wont give you a hard time I'm just going to speak straight from the heart and my experience.

My mother spanked me with belts and switches Because she thought I was lazy because I couldn't comprehend what I was reading...It didn't matter how many time I read the story...I would remember one part and forget the other part...She would tell me a word and I would forget when we came to it again... The lazy factor with me was so untrue.

I'm not saying there aren't FAKE cases out there. But I don't get any special services IF I don't take my medication. I am NOT the hyper active kind, I can actually sit still. My mind just wonders and I think of a hundred different things.. I don't want to take it...It makes me feel parniod and Its not for me...

And let me add (in health books and video's) it states our mind is in a (deep sleep) I wondered about this because I hear a hundred things going at the same time ... but is that a lazy mind? " I dont think it is. I do feel that it is in a deep sleep to NOT focus on what is at hand

mmm..not good Kait!...yeah, i had to deal with an add husband for a time and it aint easy! Like you, he also had a zillion thoughts at once and sprinkle a touch of OCD into that equation...... Mind you though, in his focused times, he was awesome!

Ive never heard of the expression 'deep sleep' associated with this..hmmm...

Still, like many modern ailments, more and more add is coming out of the closets at an alarming rate. I mark it down to the additives in our foods and untold toxins in everything we ingest.

Well this is how I found out I had ADD...it was through my childs problems. I was never diagnosed until I was in my 30's I didn't know I had it. I also knew I was different too. I recieved a video through my childs school so I could understand it... This is where they explain that the brain is in a "deep sleep" its like it takes it on sweet time to do what it needs to do..I would like to think we are wide awake but when a adult cant organize their home or when I can't repeat what you want me to rely to the next person (that's when it in a deep sleep) People dont understand why we like "video games" (there's a hundred different things happening in them) which keeps the mind occupied. And keeps a child planted in their seat. We can focus on the movement of things.. but if you are talking to us at the same time. We don't hear u.

Same as my husband..through his son having it...and yes, total absorption.

A copy of comment I left there:

written from personal curiosity, not to insult anyone: Unlike those with ADD I have extreme focus that has allowed me to be successful within the societal system by completing projects; even without fitting in.
I can complete large projects just that I do it not out of interest but out of fulfiling my degree requirements

By the way does anyone knows any diagnosis website? I think I seem to have it..Especially when it comes to studying I will zone off within a sentence and often take probably twice as long as others to complete studying a certain chapter..I always dismissed it as being too bored with things..But I remember losing more than 15 combs in a year when I was a child..And I keep losing things someone told me to hang a notebook around my neck of the places where I put things..Sometimes when Im in a big library I will walk to find books after which I forgot which direction I came from..Did I come from north or south? And I can't remember it at all..Even when in important exams if it gets too easy..I find it extremely hard to concentrate that I would have liked the exam to be harder

lol I think I just found the reason I failed 2nd grade XD, it was because we had to mesmorizes a paragraph of things from the bible(I was in a church school) and I could only remember the first part or not even anything at all, and we got one every week and had to say it out loud in-front of everyone at the end of the week............

doesn anyone get tired when they drink caffine, I have ADHD, and im usually none hyper........most of the time, but I keep my hyperness in and change it into energy which makes me able to turn it on and off, most of the times, which makes it hard for me to sleep >w<
