Default changing moods

hello everyone, i like to discuss an issue with you guys that kinda upsets me and at the same time intrests me.

whenever i played soccer and we laughed a lot after practice in the loccer rooms, very fun... and when we drive home i feel awsome and i feel loosened up and i just want to have fun and i can have fun.

whenever i wake up at 6 am for school, i feel drowzy, or when i have school later, doesn't matter. But at college the people aren't as loosened up, it's a more tensed environment. Whenever i'm at school i'm way more "blocked" to have fun. I only start having fun when a series of funny stuff has happened so i loosen up and start having fun. Most of the times after a day at school i think : i could have said this, or that would have been funny,... I hope this all makes sense.

And also something that is more of a sidething and it's really hard to explain. Ok here i go :

Soooooo... from when i was little i always had a lot of fun in class. And i was always in relative small classes, and after a while i knew everyone well enough and i could relax completely and thats when the fun me comes out and then i can be very funny. ( i am not someone who thinks he is funny but isn't...) But when i first arrived at college, the people where actually more childish than the people i was in class with in high school, they had this childish sense of humour, ( most of em) and i kinda froze because the group was too big too feel comfortable, so i couldn't be my true self, so people didn't know i was funny and i have overcome a far greater resistance to say something funny than in high school or at soccer.

I hope you understand what i'm trying to say, the issue is this :

a) how can i feel as awsome as when i come home from soccer when i'm at school

b) why does this change so much?

To answer your first question, don't be afraid to daydream! When you're sitting in class, think about playing soccer. Think about scoring a goal or perfectly timing a tackle. Then concentrate on that feeling of excitement and joy and just savor it. It seems like you already have a strong association between soccer and being happy so use it to your advantage in other parts of your life. If you do this enough, you'll only have to think of the word 'soccer' and you'll automatically get all those good thoughts and feelings whenever you need them.

As for your second question, you shouldn't consider the difference you feel between going to class and playing soccer as a negative thing. We only really appreciate the true value of anything by having contrast in our lives. I'm a firm believer that it is better to experience moments of sadness from time to time in order to make you appreciate the good times even more.

College is much more competitive than high school or grade school. It's an intermediate step just before the real world out there so it's not surprising how it's a much more tense environment.

That being said, there's no reason why you still can't have fun at college. Just get involved with the many campus activity clubs there including intermural soccer if they have it. Then there will be a nice balance between fun and academics.
