I have also developed one very bad habit of judging myself. For example, today morning I was working out in gym and suddenly I noticed myself judging myself. At that time I was looking to my big tummy and thought all these people were thinking about me and laughing at me. All of sudden I remembered Farouk’s words which said hey…just see closely who is watching your tummy and then I strange to see that no one is looking at me coz everybody was busy with their own workouts. Then I immediately reassured my mind saying that..look jaideep I should not do this to me all the time. It is very self deceptive in nature. It will very soon get down on me and make me always feel like less confident. I don’t have the right to do with myself. this something randomly came in my mind that..above I have written the whole 2 or 3 paragraphs regarding why I am fat. But after thinking for a while I realized in my mind that, getting fatter is not my problem, though I am fat but I am very intellectual person. I am very much creative. Everybody respects me because of my intellect. And I am happy to know this I am happy. I said to me that, people may laugh at me because of my fatness is completely OK with me but they don’t know that I am very intelligent. Immediately my mind told me hey jaideep you have just thought that fatness will not bother you as you are thinking being more intelligent is good. But are you intelligent enough to claim this? From this onwards I doubt has started put me down. What to do in order to remove this completely from my mind. |

First of all, congratulations for getting yourself in the gym to start a life of good health. I hope you will stick to it. You have already done something that many others out there have not, and perhaps will not do. You've taken a first step to make positive changes for your health. Well done! As for your thoughts about others looking and thinking about your body shape, you are certainly right about something -- nobody in that gym is really thinking about you -- yes, you are right, they are all busy with their own workouts! I shot a recent video to help people stop worrying about how others might think of them. This may help you since you seem to be a bit self conscious. As for the whole thing about fatness and intelligence, I think overall you should aim for a good balance. There's no reason why intelligence cannot co-exist with being healthy. In fact, true intelligence also involves being able to maintain a good balance of physical and mental health. So I certainly don't buy the idea that you may be out of shape because of intelligence. |
