Default At peace with one's society

Is a major factor of being a healthy person being at peace with one's society/community? And by that, I mean accepting the general attitudes of that community, even if they are not as we like them? How does a person become healthy if the values of the society don't gel with his/her own personality?

As an example, are people with a busybody/nosey personality healthy, or at least can be healthy in modern society? i don't consider myself as such (I generally take an anything goes attitude to life), but our society these days is very relativistic and liberal and we are told there is no perfect/absolute means to think or behave.

But decades ago, when Western society was more conservative, a busybody/nosey person often thought it was their duty to enforce the conservative norm. Is the struggle between personal thinking and social attitudes a common one?

I do think that in order to be at least happy in your surroundings, yes to some extent, you should be at peace with the society or community that you live in. And you should not have to force yourself to accept the society that you are in either.

This is why many people have chosen to move away from their original countries or even cities or neighbourhoods within the same countries. Different communities can exhibit different societies in a way.

If you don't like the attitudes or policies of your present surroundings, then a move is definitely warranted.

You don't have to accept anything that doesn't resonate with you.

It's better to be at peace with yourself, than at peace with the society you live in.

Also, you could find peace in movement and sampling different types of societies and environments.

Some people are able to influence their environment, some people are influenced by their environment.

Personally, I think that putting a lot of effort to fit in means that one should leave or at least make plans to do so.
