I would suggest possibly giving us a bit more information to work with? What's wrong? Why do you feel you are mentally ill? What were the deciding factors that caused you to think this way?

Why would you ask a bunch of strangers on the internet if you have a mental illness or not? How would we know? We aren't psychiatrists.

If you are feeling unwell, and think there is something wrong you might do better searching for a competent, qualified, psychiatrist instead. Make sure it is someone you feel comfortable with.

That's a guess. It's still not something any of us are qualified to give a diagnosis for over the internet.

Rodney, did the mental health system not work for you the first time around?

It's an automated thing when you post links with a low post count.

Hi there,

I looked up that risperidol is for schizophrenia. If you are unsure of your diagnosis maybe you should get a second opinion. I read your story from the link. From your writing - something seems "off" to me. Like your thoughts are jumpy or choppy. But I am not a psychiatrist and can't diagnose you online.

As far as 'hating' to have a mental illness, NOBODY likes to have one. On the other hand, nobody should ever feel ashamed to have a mental illness either. Too often, because of stigma and shame, mental illnesses are not reported or treated. They get shoved under the rug instead and people get worse over time.

If you feel that you may have an issue, like some of the others suggested, go get a consultation with your health care provider as a first step. Let that person refer you on if needed as well as get you more resources.

You owe it to yourself and any loved ones to get checked out and if something is there, get the best treatment for yourself.

Good luck

He already went through that road. They gave him risperidol.

Sir, you definitely need a SECOND opinion! Sadly, sometimes doctors are unable to give a proper diagnosis due to their own lack of experience, or worse, they just don't have the patients' wellbeing in mind (it's just a job to them). Keep looking until you find a doctor who will listen to your concerns, and who will NOT tell you to pop whatever pills he insists upon. Your doctor should not be forcing you to do what is uncomfortable.

Because your story has a lot to do with stress, have you seen a therapist or counselor of some kind, a doctor who works with emotional rather than physical ailments? Maybe they will be better able to find signs of any disorder or disability you may have.

Good luck!

I agree here. Not all doctors are the same so it definitely helps to keep finding one who will gel with you. Even though you've been through some already, there's a big difference in getting one you like - ask others for suggestions on who might be the right one for you in your area.
