I had this idea this morning while driving to work and I want to know what you all think and maybe ways to improve it. So here goes... I was wondering if you could approach emotional and mental development like fitness. That's when I thought, "what if there was a place like a gym that had lots of equipment for growth where anyone at any level could go train in a social setting. There would be solo stations or group classes where you could train on whichever specific area of development you want for however long you want. For example you could take a group class on meditation for a half hour or go to a section where you could work on stress reduction by yourself for as long as you needed. Another group class could help people develop interpersonal communication skills, or improve their social skills. You could take a Monday and Wednesday class like, "6 PM - Goal Setting - beginner", or 5 AM - Goal Setting - intermediate/advanced." You could take, Saturday 9 AM - Group Hypnosis Etc... If you felt like it you could get on a station dedicated to developing visualization skills for however long you wanted. Overall you could access which class or station you wanted to train on just like at a 24 hour fitness. And if you needed extra help there would be personal trainers that are skilled in helping you hit your target areas faster. Basically any one with any background or state of mind would pay a reasonable monthly fee go anytime and be surrounded with people who are focused on their own positive growth. After training and getting in better mental/emotional shape you could start seeing changes in your emotional life just as if you were seeing your body change from working out. Also unlike taking workshops it doesn't require any major investments, and unlike doing it all by yourself you learn faster by watching and doing. |

This world can be such a great place if great ideas would be easily put in practice. Knowledge means power and to be honest I hope someone in this world that has a pure wish to help others will wake up and accomplish such a great objective. The idea is fantastic. In my country it's kind of pathetic when I think that with all the suicides going on we are taught things about psychology for only one year and religion is being "taught" for more than 6 years. |

Thanks for the reply. Would you enjoy training in a place like that? More group classes! Breaking and Creating New Habits. Improving your memory Problem Solving Subjective/Objective Reality (Borrowed from Steve) Paying off Debt Last edited by Perry M; 09-26-2011 at 05:51 PM. |

I love your idea!!! I like the idea of a monthy fee (so you can keep the cost for your clients relatively down) and the idea of having coaches there walking around helping you with whatever you need. I would say that you can have short workshops or classes (about 1 hour or 2 hours) and trainings that are a few weeks long. I would sign up for something like this!! I actually think.. you could combine this with an actual gym. Mental health doesn't work if it doesn't go along with physical health. You can have most things inclusive, and have private coaching at an extra fee. I really really really like this idea!! Mind if I steal it for my "somewhere in the future plans"? |

Thank You! No please take that idea. I think that it would be great to see lots of people do make this happen and how they would approach it. After all competition is good for growth! Like you also said, I also like the idea of combining the physical part because it brings in more clients and brings a more rounded approach to fitness training. I think I'd be interested in joining something like this. It's already a large part where I spend my time. I imagine there are professionals available that would enjoy leading the "classes". maybe similar to a gym or yoga studio, where many have jobs and also run classes. |

"MeEmo" might have unintended connotations. |
