Default Quick fix for dealing with negative people

I have written about my difficult experiences with certain people in my life. As a result of talking this through with friends and benefiting from the insights of this website, a 'quick fix' way of dealing with negative people came to mind. Sometimes, it feels like no matter how much positive thinking you do or how much you tell yourself it doesn't bother you, it does. Sometimes you're completely honest with yourself and sometimes you lie and state that it doesn't bother you. The person is there in the room, either actively saying things which you allow to bring you down or for those of you who believe in vibes (like I do), you 'feel' the negative presence.

Think of something ludicrous that makes you laugh and make up an outfit for that person. Of course, this is a variation on what is said about public speaking, imagining them all naked, as a means of relaxing in a situation. I imagined someone today wearing a Santa hat and even managed to go further and imagine a beard for a time. The negative energy coming from this person was intense but the visual imagery was so strong that I was smiling and happy and wanted to laugh. It helped me to dissipate my feelings of negativity caused by the negative vibes and I believe that it helped decrease the negativity in the other person.

Of course, the behaviour of the other person was a bonus but I felt a helluva lot better.

Cool idea. When you said imagine them in something funny I immediately thought 'Fluffy chicken suit'...made me feel better almost instantly.

I really like this

Take a negative situation and temporarily make it a positive one simply by changing your perception.

Cheers for the enlightenment ;-)

I like to imagine the person dressed like chicken santa, who dresses like a chicken that dresses like santa and drops barrels of chicken feed down as many chimneys as possible at christmas time before getting arrested.
