I think ignorance is fear. Ignorance is sticking to what you believe, and not accepting anything else - in fear that you might be wrong and things as you know them are wrong, whether it's conscious or subconscious. This could be in many ways; disproving a belief, to stop stereotyping and judging, to question reality with an open mind, etc. So it really is no better living in one or the other because they're basically synonymous.
